CGS started to fall apart for me when Peter Rios left. He was one of the main reasons I listened. I still have a few episodes he appeared on that I may never listen to.....its never over that way. Silly, I know. I havent even listened to them in a LONG time now.

While I don't know if I would call you guys "celebrities", I know that what got me off my butt and back going to cons again was the chance to meet the people who live in my head on my travels to and from work. I know I've told the story on here a few times but the first C2E2 I attended was NOT for back issue buying or to meet the creators. It was to meet podcasters. Initially, it was Stevie D from CBQ ( who has gone on to become a very dear friend) but that quickly grew into the host of other shows that I loved. That Saturday night at the Hyatt bar, surrounded by podcasters, all of us drinking and having a great time.....THAT was the reason I was there. That night made my whole trip. Of course, since then I've met people from the forums and that has only enhanced my con experience.
So...."celebrities"? Nawww......."Stars".....in my eyes.....Hellz yeah!!

And none of my friends get what a podcast is...I've just stopped trying. They just assume its something nerd-related and leave me to it.

We started at 10:00 am and I finished at about 2 am when Chris poured me into a taxi.    Friday was all about 6 hours of tattoo work with one of the worst hangovers that I have ever had.

So yes, Thursday is about getting our drink on.

Funny, though, I met Jeff (Bean) last year and still think of him mainly as Bean.

Ok.....here's a question. I have a brand spankin' new EOC shirt that has been sitting, waiting to be worn at C2E2.....should I wear it for the Thursday meet-up?? Or hold it until the first day of the con so that EOC-ers that couldnt make it will know to stop me and say "HI!"

Ok.....I may be gay and not know too much about sports....but...even I had to laugh. I first saw this thread and thought to myself...."Dynasty Style"??? Then I got all excited and started planning which team Alexis and Krystle were going to be on. 

Hey everyone...was bored at work tonight and was bumming around Craigs List and came across something interesting in the "For Sale" section of the Detroit-Metro listings. Under "collectibles" someone has listed really early Silver Age Marvel issues. We're talking Avengers #1 and #4, FF #1-5, X-men #1 and many more. Looking at some of the pictures, he seems to have multiple copies of these issues!! I can't afford anyof these by a LONG SHOT, but figured if anyone here could and wanted to look into it....I wanted to get the word out. I would be careful as it IS Craigs List, but if it turns out to be legit and someone is able to find an issue they have been hunting for, then I will be glad I said something. Let me know how things turn out!!

I live in the area but have never been. No one ever seems to want to go with me. Maybe one day....I get all my con-goodness from C2E2, however....so I'm good.

Podcasts were a huge factor in me getting back into comics so hard.  The weekly discussions and history lessons were invaluable in catching up on what I had missed in the last 10+ years. 

I really don't think that podcasters realize how much of an influence they DO have on people. They brought me back to a hobby I had all but abandoned. They allow people allover the world to remain in touch with books/creators that they love. When I attended my first C2E2, it was mainly to meet the people that I listened to every day on my way to and from work. I was sitting at the Hyatt bar one night with Stevie D. from CBQ and we were surrounded by podcasters and having a great time. I nudged Stevie and said to him..."THIS is why I came here. To meet all of you. This is the night that I wanted."

since '91 i've been all in. i've got two wednesdays left before about a year long of vagabonding my way around the world with just a backpack. so...that'll be my first lapse.
and no, i can't go digital. physical copy or nothing, for life.
and much like any character death - i'll be back.
