I'm so tempted to get the manga cos I wanna know what happens next but I think I'll wait it out and do the weekly thing.

Did you watch it?

Finally got around to watching the first episodes of Attack on Titan and The Flowers of Evil. Could I have watched to shows more different back to back?  Cheesy Good stuff either way. Dig the whole idea of a medieval like city surrounded by a big wall. Loved that location on Avatar: The Last Air Bender so that something that helped me ease into Titan. I gotta mention there's going some big developments or this is going to be a short and bleak show.
Only read the 1st volume so far (but I bought the 2nd) l so I don't think I'm going to go far watching this. That's an atmosphere building show. Style works for it and nice to see some realism with it's fever dream stuff. Kind of reminds me of Beck a bit in the way it goes about things but I haven't watched a whole lot so my frame of reference isn't that big.

Followed! I had such a blast, first volunteering as part of a great team for an amazing organizing team, then using the rest of my time Saturday seeing all that I could and meeting all of the folks on my wish list. Comics people truly are amazing people.

Here's my haul, with signatures and mini sketches in just about every one!

I could only do one day, due to travelling on Sunday for Mothers Day, but I'll definitely volunteer again, as well as obviously make it an annual highlight. Hopefully a meetup will work next time, or later this year at FanExpo.

You know what the worse thing is looking at everyone's haul and realizing you missed stuff. I picked up a lot of stuff this year but how did I miss Joe Quinones? I keep running back to the TCAF map to justify how I missed someone. Must have been how tired I was feeling.

Are you kidding me? This is one of the few DC titles left that I was interested in. I just recently even bought a back issue of this series. I was getting ready to jump in.
4  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Claremont/Byrne Uncanny X-Men Omnibus new printing & vol 2? on: 01:05 PM | Friday, May 17, 2013
The next three masterworks vol. 5, 6, and 7, I would assume would be in a Omnibus vol.2. Uncanny #132-159, Annual #4,Phoenix: The Untold Story #1 one-shot, and Phoenix from Bizarre Adventures #27, X-Men Annual #5 and Avengers Annual #10. That finishes off Dark Phoenix, Days of Future Past, Kitty's holiday story, The Return of Magneto, and Dracula. The best breaking point for me would be if the Brood saga was included since some of those space adventures start in the later half but that might make the volume too big.

Parker is crazy underrated. I haven't read a Parker issue that I didn't love. Pak is usually good too. Waid already left sort of but I was thinking of him. What's Busiek doing these days? If we have to have an older guy in there, I'd go for Peter David.

I was gonna say Slott but he'll never leave Smiley

I don't think a bunch of writers, no matter how awesome, could have the same impact today as Image did back then. But I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Parker is underrated. After Red Shehulk ends is he going to have anything at Marvel? Would be a shame if he didn't. He always turns in at least a solid enjoyable story.
All I recall is Busiek is relaunching Astro City.
I feel like Pak has already left Marvel with his upcoming DC and Valiant work.

Cheesy

I may not have been around when that happened since I don't remember it. I remember the name and not much else.

It's the early 2000's. I'm not surprised if you don't remember it. It's a footnote in history really.

But what if a massive writer exodus happened at Marvel today? Like, what if Hickman, Aaron, Bendis, Jeff Parker, Remender, Pak & Fraction left Marvel and teamed up? Can that team up be a force in the industry or are things wildly different now when compared to the 90s? And how would this affect Marvel?

I'd say no. Sales numbers were higher then and things really seemed to be on the climb. I'd replace Parker and Pak from that group but I'm not sure with who. Thinking Too bad I can't sub Brubaker in there. I guess Waid or Buisek could be the Valentino? Wink  It's different for writers too since unless they can draw they need artists too which changes the impact and doubles the creators.

I'd love to see them pull an Image but all writers. What do you even call that? Words?

You mean like Gorilla Comics? With Busiek, Waid, Kesel and some of those artists types which doesn't fit this.  Wink

I am talking about COMICS Kevin.  I can get B&W toilet paper as well but we are talking about comics.

I thought we were all talking about COMICS? That's why we come here. I'm confused.  Wink

horror (which seems to be the only genre that can still sell B&W)

If you don't count manga that does every genre.  Wink

...remember when marvel noise used to get advanced previews and of Marvel books and David, evaD, Adam Besenyodi, mike Sims & I would write reviews for 'em the week before they'd hit? I still have a DVD of all those pdf's  Cheesy

I don't remember this at all.  Thinking

KITT and Michael Knight will be there.  KITT's cool.

I know someone that's happy about that.

He was at one of the first if not the first convention I went to in Toronto. Pretty cool.  Yes

I wonder if Disney made Ms Marvel put more clothes on. Her old black bathing suit-like costume was awesome. Her new "Captain Marvel" long sleeved with leggings costume is......less fun.

I like the old look but artists kept on drawing it smaller and smaller over the years. That was kind of frustrating in a way. That couldn't have helped if someone was looking for a redesign.

Thor: God of Thunder  Rock Horns

I was a big fan of the modern Starlord outfit from when I was first introduced to him in Annihilation. Why does that classic outfit look better on those early covers than the classic today?  Thinking  Cheesy Hilarious about not being super excited to see Starwars because of Starlord. That 1st Starlord story was kind of crazy. I only have the Starlord: Special Edition from the bins at a con. Another in my long list of things to read.

The Annihilation Classic TPB reprints the original Englehart/Gan Star-Lord story, but otherwise I don't think any of these have been reprinted...they might be available to buy digitally, but they're available to rrent.  Cheesy

That should have been in the Annihilation Classic HC.

This is so funny to me, because I spend a LOT of time on Disney boards and there is so much talk/fear/anxiety from that community along the lines of "Don't get your Marvel into our Disney!"

Roll On Floor Laughing It can be funny viewing things from the other side.
16  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: SUPERMAG in May from AdHouse Books on: 01:05 PM | Monday, May 13, 2013
there was a HC of Supermag?

There was a limited number of HC's that were made just in time for the show. I was drawn in by the new shiny object.  Cheesy

REALLY wish I was more aggressive in trying to meet up with you peeps! Little to no cell usage in Canada due to international rates...

It was so ridiculously easy to bump into people this year that I didn't feel as bad for not meeting up with anyone for dinner. I was hitting up comic places seemingly for hours after the tcaf ended on Saturday.

Incredible show. So many ridiculously talented individuals, great folks to meet, far too much to do, and far too much to buy. My wife was a very gracious and supportive pack mule for the weekend. I'll post my incredible Black Panther commission from Jim Rugg and Joan of Arc by Kagan McLeod when I get some time this week. Come to think of it, I need to post my C2E2 art. The past few weeks have been comic nirvana. I'm much poorer as a result, but can you put a price on that which benefits the very soul of a man?

Always good to have a pack mule. I usually bring one along.  Wink I think I saw that Black Panther. Good stuff  Thumbs Up

I picked up a HC of Supermag that I didn't even know existed until I saw it at TCAF. It's pretty cool inside and out.  Boogie

Sketch Rugg did on the inside.

Then when you turn the page...

TCAF was a blast! Spent most of the day Saturday running into people and talking to people. Even caught up with a forumite that hasn’t been around for some time and they still get lost in the city. Wink An indie creator even remembered me from Fan Expo and sold me his latest comic as he was passing through. Never had that happen to me before. Picked up Supermag by Jim Rugg as a HC that I never even knew existed from the adhouse booth. There’s even a sketch inside on one side and then he drew another on the other side. So awesome! It ties in nicely with the Mind MGMT custom sketched dust jacket cover that even has sketches and text on the inside flaps. Sunday was really my shopping day where I picked up quite a few other things. This was the year where I think I found more than usual. I’m probably forgetting something; it was a pretty tiring but great weekend.

My haul:
