I'd love to publicly thank BobBretall! Got a really cool swag of stuff from him. After not getting anything last year I was a bit dubious, but not anymore!

I got horror comics! All nothing I've read before. With some old school superhero fun thrown in!

Bob sent me:

Spawn: New Flesh collection by Hine & Haberlin. Collecting 166 to 169
Driver For the Dead 1 of 3, by John Heffernan who I'm not that familiar with, but awesome Mano art!
Ghost Rider 81 which has sweet Larroca art
Various issues of Tales of the Living Corpse, byt Buz Hasson and Ken Haeser
Uncanny X-Men 148 by Claremont with art by Cockrum and Rubinstein
Amazing Spider-Man 113 by Roy Thomas art by JR

Thank you once again. Bob's your stuff will be sent out this week!

9  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Comic Shops in Melbourne on: 01:10 AM | Friday, October 15, 2010
That's my aim too. Gotta find about 15 Moon Knight issues to finish my complete run, and some old Blue Beetle. Not sure if I will get a commission this time, but I will be getting Lloyd Kaufman to sign my Toxic Avenger dvd. Not sure if I'll wear my Bat symbol shirt or my Toxie one.

Say hi if you see me. I'm going pretty much for Way and Robertson. Free autographs and photoswith them!

Other than that I'm a bit strapped for cash this week so no celebs for me.

12  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: New Moon Knight series by Bendis and Maleev on: 12:10 AM | Monday, October 11, 2010
This means they are finally taking Moon Knight seriously. Not to offend anyone whose been working on him the last few years, but none were big creators except Finch. Hopefully Bendis can build him up like Johns does with Dc characters.

15  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Who are your top 5 comic book writers & in your opinion their best work? on: 07:10 AM | Sunday, October 03, 2010
I can't really do this and i want to!

Only one writer i follow with religious fanaticism and thats Garth Ennis. I've read nearly everything he's done and lapped it up.

His best work? Max Punisher and I've explained a million time why.

No one comes close and whilst I like other writers I don't follow any of them. So I have a top 1.

I love how DC collects (or not collects) books.

Yeah... you could pick out pretty much any Ennis issue and it's a better seller than pretty much any issue since he left the book.  Undecided

I've been hoping the Aaron/Dillon series would catch on because it's been really great, probably my favorite Marvel book... as is so often the case, though, me loving a comic usually means it's not too long for this world. That's actually a lot of the reason I've been jumping on the Avengers, Spider-Man, and Batman books over the past couple years... these are books I can enjoy every month without fear of them going away whenever I get attached.

I think some of the problem might be that they didnt capitalise on Ennis leaving the book. Now I love Welcome to the Bayou and the other 2 arcs after Ennis were solid, but Aaron should have been the guy who followed Ennis from issue 61.

My enjoyment of those books is pretty low compared to Punishermax. In Punishermax I don't have to worry about them doing an OMIT, getting a characters voice wrong (Spidey in Avengers) or there being a Punisher inc. Dammit I want my solid Punisher monthly book, the one where he doesn't turn into some crappy monster. It's been my favourite book since In the Beginning part one. All I want from the comics industry is to keep publishing the book, thats it. When I'm low on cash I drop everything except the essentials which is right now and I can't even get my serving of violence!

A bit of a rant yes. Tends to happen in the mornings most as I do miss my morning cigarette. quitting is awesome and it sucks

Just R.E.B.E.L.S. I'd get the Bat books but cannot stand what Morrisons doing with it.
