FYI: Box.net is running a limited promo for 25GB free storage when you sign up with a new account.

Where is this? I can't find anything on their main website.

In lieu of pretty pictures, here are some words I think are about right.

"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."
- Confucius

"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."
- Edgar Allan Poe

"I have an important message to deliver to all the cute people all over the world. If you're out there and you're cute, maybe you're beautiful. I just want to tell you somethin' — there's more of us UGLY MOTHERFUCKERS than you are, hey-y, so watch out."
- Zappa

And the worst marketing plan is the Dr Pepper 10, only for men.

Didn't Coke Zero do that first?

New Comer
Drive
 - I am captivated by it. I love everything about this movie, and I can watch it beginning to end no problem. Girl Friend can not handle the violence. Everything is more or less ok until the elevator scene. She is elated by the passionate moment and then horrified to the point that she will not watch anymore mmediately afterwards. DID I MENTION HOW I LOVE THIS MOVIE

This is a great addition. I am completely in love with the film as well, definitely one of the newer movies that I've watched the most times in the last couple of years  Yes

You are all old!

When I was 22 I had just moved to New York from Denmark, worked full time in midtown, and went to grad school uptown in my lunch breaks. That's only four or five years ago, though.

This is the most boring, uninspired, uninteresting choice that they could ever get. Oh well I can go back to not giving a fuck now.

It's Disney and the Star Wars brand - were you expecting bold and daring experimentation?
8  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: The Man by Vaughn Bodé on: 06:01 PM | Sunday, January 27, 2013
Thanks, Jim! I adore Bodé's work, but I've never had a chance to read The Man in its entirety Smiley

I read Altered Carbons a year or two ago and was really underwhelmed, so I feel you guys.

11  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: What comics job suits you? on: 12:01 PM | Friday, January 25, 2013
I enjoy comics criticism quite a bit, but I would not want to make comic books my career - my dream job is something else entirely. The only people in the industry who truly have "dream jobs" (from my pov) are Gary Groth and Kim Thompson, and they both do it a lot better than I ever could  Embarrassed

Bow down to the might of the Wars.

I think that's a very reasonable choice. Personally I'm mostly relieved that they didn't pick Joss Whedon.

I think some of the few creators who would be credible choices for a new con in the vein of MorrisonCon are Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman, and Jack Chick.

17  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Hope for Urban Dredd sequel yet on: 12:01 PM | Thursday, January 24, 2013
I'm not talking about the TV series.

I'm talking about a movie that was released in 1982 and after non-stop airings on cable ended up with a sequel seven years later.

... with a budget of $192,816.

Something like this, David?  Whistle

18  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Hope for Urban Dredd sequel yet on: 05:01 PM | Wednesday, January 23, 2013
It would be great, but I doubt we'll see a sequel. In the past, movies that tanked this badly at the box office have not spawned any subsequent titles, regardless of how well they did in the home video market.

My favorite Burroughs collaboration will always be The Black Rider. I saw a glorious production of the musical in Copenhagen in 1998 and it was one of those transformative events that completely altered my relationship to both music and stage arts  Yes
