Superman Returns had its issues, but I adored the half modern/half classic art deco look that movie gave Metropolis.

It was shot in Sydney and I recognise a lot of the locations. The car scene with Parker Posey was shot in Martin Place where I used to work. Whenever I'd come to work in the morning I thought to myself "Superman was here" so I have nothing but love for that movie.

In those terms, I think the movie ending for Watchmen is a LOT better. Not that I'm gonna start giving Alan Moore a hard time for his writing but talk about a convoluted ending to Wathcmen.

I agree that the movie ending makes more sense (and the guys that made the movie should be commended for making that change) but the comic book ending didn't confuse me. I read it as an adult though (only a few years ago) and not as a kid. If I read it when I was younger I could see it confusing me. That said, it's not like I can tell you word for word exactly what happened. It's one of those things that made sense while I was reading it but I don't recall every single detail about it. I've been meaning to reread it to pinpoint what was confusing about it.

Nice work with the pacing. There's just enough meat per page and you always leave me wanting more. Woo burritos!

Damn... Thanks (and karma) for the heads up. I wanted to do it this morning before going to work but I woke up late and didn't have time. I guess it's good that I didn't. I think most of our stuff is backed up but it'd still be a bit of a hassle having to deal with that.

Come to think of it, Walt wouldn't have had to do the whole poisoning thing if he thought about the explosion thing right away. Oh well...

I didn't like the ending to the Kick Ass movie.

That's cool. Anything specific that you didn't like or just the whole thing in general?

I personally didn't like how

they didn't shoot Nic Cage in the head and have it explode. And how McLovin was alive at the end.

But those were minor issues.

I'd also like to see some more innovation. A lot of these super hero films seem to follow the same script. Hero's origin. Villain's origin. Drama with the love interest. Hero fights villain. I can't sit through it anymore.

I sort of feel the same way. I enjoyed the shit out of Iron Man until he had to fight Jeff Bridges. Same with a bunch of other movies. I thought Captain America did it in an interesting way even though it followed most of the formula you outlined. I wasn't a fan of the fight scene at the end but I thought the movie ended very nicely and they left it at a nice place. Plus that end credits sequence is probably one of the best end credit sequences ever.

I had fallen out of comics for about half of a year and on a whim decided to listen to the newest EOC to hopefully get me excited about comics again and it worked!

YAY! I actually haven't been reading all that much as of late but listening to the podcast makes me feel like I'm still consuming comics in some way.
