3421  Forums / The Bullpen / Did Geoff Johns change? Or did we? on: 08:09 PM | Monday, September 19, 2011
I can't really answer this question because I haven't read any of his recent stuff but I'm really curious to hear about what you guys think. It seems like his recent DCnu work hasn't been blowing people away. Meanwhile, I just listened to the 11 O’Closcars episode of the podcast (episode 91) and the fellas were talking about how great a writer Geoff Johns is. I'm not disputing that but at the same time, I don't hear a lot of people saying that his writing style has changed. So is it more about people expecting something new and different from him?

I'm all for going digital with the floppies and making collections available in print.

That's great and all but I feel like it's something that could have been done early on when they went digital. Were they holding back on this as a counter to whatever DC was gonna do? And a $1 discount? YAY! Huh?

I'm really sorry, I dislike being negative. But I feel like Marvel isn't moving fast enough on this. I liked them so much better when they weren't #1 and they made ballsier moves. Now it feels like it's DC in that spot and Marvel is the reactionary company.

By the way, Maximum Carnage = Rock Horns Soooo much fun. Even the SNES game was a blast Boogie

I, for one, am looking forward to my $20 double page spread of the Avengers looking at a dinner menu...with 20 ads.

 Thumbs Up

Here are three more IR pics taken this past week. I’ve noticed that my brother’s Hoya R72 filter has some sort of imperfection in the glass which makes the middle part of the image blurry. It disappears the more you zoom in but I like to shoot wide so I don’t think I’ll be using it much. Besides, I’ve just realised that using a red filter produces more pleasing results when doing faux colour IR photos so I think I’ll be using that from now on.

Oh, yeah. Looooooove that episode. It's amazingly well done. (PUN!)

It's my first time seeing it and it was a ton of fun. Makes me wanna get some Kamandi comics Thumbs Up

I've never been a big fan of cartoon versions of DC heroes.

Hey Vince, Batman: The Brave and The Bold is on TV right now. It's the Kamandi episode and I instantly thought of you. Have you seen it? He looks like he was drawn by Kirby.

Maybe it's just me, but I loved Snarf's reaction to Lion-O's agreement of the terms of the rematch.
Cheesy

Me too Smiley I think they're doing a good job of making Snarf not annoying.

She's cute.  She looks the way she did when she was

the mousy computer geek when we first meet her in Gen13 back in the day.

Nice! I wonder if she'll be
Hulking out into a hottie
in the pages of Superboy.

I hear that the Acer Iconia tab is pretty good. A tad bulky but good performance. Those good for about 350.

My dad got a good deal on the 16GB WiFi and a 32GB 3G (he knows an Acer rep) although he'll be eBaying one of them. I've played with the 16GB and it's pretty nifty. It's thicker than the others but it's not a deal breaker. I had no issues with the size. I also liked how it has a USB port! Maybe not a big deal for others but I'm used to iOS devices with no USB ports.

My Samsung Galaxy S2 plays videos much better though, it didn't even stutter when I played the Mission Impossible 1080P trailer whereas the Iconia had a heart attack. But maybe I just didn't have the right codec for Mobo Player (the app I used to play the trailer). My dad has since upgraded it to 3.2 so maybe it's better now.

If the Galaxy Tab works the same way as the Galaxy S2 then I think they'll be a lot easier to use right out of the box than the Iconia (probably more so for people who've been primarily used to iOS devices) but I think it just takes some getting used to.

The two titles that were $3.99 for 19 pages (Ultimate Fallout and Moon Knight) are both by Bendis. I wonder if that's a coincidence or if Marvel told him to do that.

Can someone spoiler tag for me who it was in Superboy that was a big surprise? I read the issue and enjoyed it immensely but I am not much of a DC guy (till now) so I have no idea.
Sure, it's:

Caitlyn Fairchild from Gen 13...she's the scientist in the issue (pre-powers).

WHAT?!? I love
her.
I gotta check this out.
Did she look hot?

P.s Did you know he was also in Mad Men for 5 episodes.

I did not know that! And I've seen every episode. The guy's a chameleon!

Sounds about right.

Sad

We saw the western/gunfight-type episode with the swordsman who duels others and takes their swords...very enjoyable!

I liked that episode quite a bit too Thumbs Up I love how it ended with
the team thinking Lion-O was just slacking off the entire time Tongue

I heard they're taking a 6 week break. Can anyone corroborate this?
