The fact that Brubaker is not writing a Bucky and Black Widow: Agents of SHIELD series is a travesty.

Thumbs Up

Fear Itself spoiler
I hope Bucky's death gets reversed by the end. Seems like a shit way to end things after doing so much work on the character.

I agree with you guys with Gwen Stacy even though it wasn't technically a resurrection. Or was it? My mind is blanking out.

My wife gave me the Thor Simonson Omnibus and my brother got me the book filled with iPhone photos for my birthday.

Coogee beach, the closest beach to my place. I prefer it to Bondi beach since it's not as busy.

Still not 3GS ready.  Sad

Though it does say it's still coming.

I just checked Dermandar again and it's still not available on the 3GS. I don't know why it needs a gyroscope to do what it needs to do. There's another Instagram-like app called BeFunky but it says it needs a front facing camera. Not sure why though since the back camera does most of the picture taking anyway Huh?

My plan runs out next month so I might get a Samsung Galaxy S II if I don't hear anything about the iPhone 5.

If you have an iPad, check out Snapseed. I've been meaning to get it but I'm procrastinating. Seems like a bargain app though if you feel like tinkering with your photos on the iPad.

X-Factor has been solid for a long time now. Peter David is awesome.

I don't know about favourite but I thought Bucky was really well done and I loved reading about the adventures of the Winter Soldier. I was kinda hoping he'd turn back into the Winter Soldier once Steve came back but he stayed as Cap. Oh well...

I gotta think hard about my least fave. I don't think I've ever been super upset about a resurrection. Norman Orborn came close but I haven't read it so I don't even know what happened with that.

Olympus is Talking Shit About Your Camera Phone
http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/2011/07/olympus-is-talking-trash-about-your-camera-phone/

New guerrilla ad campaign by Olympus in Australia. Of course, it's nonsense. You can take decent pictures using a camera phone. Although sure, you can do more with an actual camera which is why I always bring one with me. But I'm sure their aim was to get people talking and they probably succeeded with that. I would actually like it if there were cameras that followed the iPhone approach of letting people develop apps for it. That'd make things interesting.

Oddly, this is my current Hulk of choice.  The creative vision being output right now is a can't miss in my opinion.

Thumbs Up It feels like old school Marvel where things are new and wonderful.
3988  Forums / The Monkees Room / Re: Kevin Pollak interviews Damon Lindelof on Lost & a ton of other things on: 01:07 AM | Saturday, July 16, 2011
Thanks guys, yeah it was a fun interview.

This was really cool. I don't even like Lost, but I enjoyed listening to this. Karma!

Yeah I enjoyed hearing about the behind the scenes stuff. It was more about what went into making the show as opposed to what happened in the show.
3989  Forums / The Monkees Room / Re: ebay checkout problems on: 01:07 AM | Saturday, July 16, 2011
That's good that eBay knows about it. That way you have some sort of record that you tried to pay if the seller tries to hit you with an unpaid strike. I don't think that has ever happened to me. It might've once but it got resolved somehow, maybe I tried another browser, I forgot.

With regards to Frankencastle, it might be one of those things where if Peter Parker became a Superman type character for 12 issues and had an All Star Superman type run, some might say it's super awesome because of the story or whatever while others will say that it sucks because that's not who Peter Parker is.

Btw, does Red Hulk fit in that polarizing category? I love the shit out of it but a lot of people I've talked to about it can't get past the stretching out of the reveal.

Frankencastle is a great example of this.   I personally thought it was one of the most ill-conceived travesties ever visited upon Frank Castle, but I can appreciate that there are lot of people who thought it was the greatest thing ever.

I feel the same way but about that Punisher story where he becomes an angel and teams up with Wolverine.

Without knowing the differences between the way Vince and Chris record our conversations, I will say Skype can really fuck shit up when more people are added to the mix.

Agreed. We do a 4 way Skype thing at work and we always can't hear one person and another person is always loud.

No.

I agree.
The spinning thing starts to wobble in the end just before the screen goes to black. They don't show it falling down because it doesn't matter at that point. DiCaprio has moved past relying on it to tell him whether he's dreaming or not. He was able to see his kids' faces which was something he was unable to in his dreams.

You can try to make arguments for both cases and that might be part of the fun for some but if he was still dreaming then the movie becomes less meaningful. The ending is supposed to be cathartic as opposed to a 'gotcha' ending. Chris Nolan is classier than that.

Vulcan is the Jason Todd/Red Hood meets the Sentry in the X-Men.
Jason Todd, by the way, was killed by the Joker & never came back!

I love how the Jason Todd stuff needs to have spoiler tags whereas most of us have been spoiling things left, right and center Cheesy I agree with you by the way.
3995  Forums / The Bullpen / Re: Back issue tape pet peeve on: 09:07 PM | Thursday, July 14, 2011
All these years and I didn't think of doing the flap on the tape Doh! And I do that sort of thing with other stuff I tape up.

I do one tape down the middle, very slightly diagonal.

Orange message: "Shut the engines down"

Yellow message: "The universe will break"

Red message: "Everyone you love dies"

Maroon message: "Fight to save everything"

Wow, I wonder what it all means. I like "shut the engines down" what engines?

I also wonder if there will only be 4 silhouettes or if we'll get more.

You guys need to prank listeners for next week's episode and have just Vince and Jason talk for the first 15 mins or so and pretend Chris and David aren't around Tongue

By the way, I need to get in on that Christopher Priest Black Panther run. I read bits and pieces but I want the whole thing. If anyone wants to get rid of their run, let me know Smiley Or Marvel can just make it easier on all of us and collect all that stuff. C'mon Marvel, take my monies!

Please let the next one be a Fat Cobra silhouette.

Is that why Luke Cage used to say "Christmas" a lot?

Thumbs Up
3999  Forums / The Monkees Room / Re: The Photography Thread: post your pics, talk about gear, ask for tips, etc. on: 11:07 AM | Thursday, July 14, 2011
I did a test comparing different alternatives to spending hundreds on a macro lens.

Here's a picture taken using a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Here's one taken using a Canon FD 50mm f/3.5 Macro lens.

Here's one taken using the same macro lens plus a Raynox 250 macro attachment.

And here's one using the same macro lens plus a 68mm extension tube.

I wrote a bit on each of them so for those who are interested, you can find the full post here. Might be worth a brief look if you'd like to get into macro photography but don't want to spend a fortune in camera gear.
