Jay Tomio is dropping knowledge.

I can't really speak about OA in regards to comics since it's something I've never been into. I can only assume it's what people think about they fact that he basically stopped doing comics a long time ago. I remember when I was in school none everyone was about Jim Lee's X-Men and you saw it everywhere. They put that art from those 11 issues on everything they could for years. Everyone is right art is subjective but for my tastes Lee's work is more classically sound in it's structure to me than McFarlane's. I think that as Jay said Lee has more "sons" in the world for in art that matters more. It adds to impact and legacy. Jim Lee got me to read that terrible frank Miller Batman comic. He got me through that terrible new Justice League comic.

I think that the Wildstorm universe isn't getting enough credit. While Spawn has lasted to me the only one of the Image 7 to actually make a universe like the Big 2 was Lee. I knew the ins and outs of that thing before I knew about most of the Marvel and DC universes. That was MY universe and a lot of my peers.

I think another thing people forget is that Lee has done stuff in the game industry and alot of his people worked on a lot this current DC outbreak of gaming. As much as I dislike Arkham Asylum a WHOLE TON of people love it.

Also the fact that there are people who dares to ever dis X-Men #1 is dumbfounding to me. 8 times platinum. that's right i'm using music terms.

No Nah, can't go that far. Jordan was the G.O.A.T...it wasn't just generational, he left the game widely considered the best to EVER play it. And he parlayed his fame into mad riches outside of the world of comics.

Todd McFarlane is a closer analog to Jordan than Lee.

I love Jordan. He's my dude but Bill Russell has like 11 rings. He's the GOAT. I had to admit that to myself around 28.
Personally in comic to me Lee > McFarlane. I think he's stay relevant more that McFarlane and still knock back a fadeaway when needed.

The interesting thing is that the digital stuff is using older continuities.

I read some of those tweets. It sounds like he was just sick of the game to me and that I understand.

I'm listening to a guy on a podcast criticize Iron Man 3 and I keep saying to myself "why can't he be classy about it like Jason?"

My bad you know I be hating on another level on IM3.  Wink

I picked up a HC of Supermag that I didn't even know existed until I saw it at TCAF. It's pretty cool inside and out.  Boogie

Sketch Rugg did on the inside.

Then when you turn the page...

there was a HC of Supermag?

This may feel like a big deal to some, but it's just normal course of business.

1) The founder and EIC of the site, Laura Hudson, moved on some time ago (she ended up at Wired)
2) While traffic was reportedly up near all-time levels, on a relative basis it's not a big eyeball topic area for AOL
3) AOL has been streamlining their blog content for some time under new management

The good news is that absolutely NOTHING that was written there is something that can't easily be reproduced under a new URL if the writers care to continue on with their pursuits.

Are they ending some of that BS video stuff they have been trying to do?

I still do not see what the big deal is about having an issue of the series, it would cost the same amount as the digital version. If you don't like it, you can just throw it away or recycle it or give it to someone else, also knowing the ebay tracking for new Image issue #1's you can probably flip it on for double or triple the price within the next few weeks. This whole "paperless existence" thing is complete nonsense.

How about I might not even want to go to the store. That's wasting my TIME. I don't care about flipping a comic book. i don't even want that in my crib. the problem with paper is that it takes up space and I ain't gots time for that.

fair enough.

my query is more that this wasn't an issue a year or two ago, let alone any kind of deal-breaker. And it's not like they aren't releasing an official digital version at all, you just have to wait a few weeks. it seems fair to me.

To tell the truth I didn't know about his practice in releasing his books until that CBR interview. It seems like he puts a large delay in the digital release of his books. That ain't for me and I don't want to support that with my dollars. To me dollars speak the loudest even over BS internet talk.

Interesting to hear almost universal condemnation of the new Karate Kid film pre-release (though I think that reflected most people).

While I don't understand why or think it had to be a Karate Kid movie, I think that it surprised most people and it wasn't awful to me at all, and made BANK.

I actually think its a better film than the original as much as a i love the original.

Also, it's pretty short-sighted not to release a legit digital version since it's already out there digitally as of about 12 hours ago.

Yeah ignoring piracy never really solves anything.
