Trying to get my wife to look at these pics. Hopefully then she'll realize that my addiction could be much much worse. Great room though. I am green with envy.

I spotted Lovecraft Unbound and went straight to google: That sounds like a REALLY cool anthology. I know what's going on my Christmas list.

Nice room Wood, came out great. The hallway gallery is a thing of beauty.

Maybe I missed it but what are the dimensions of the room and how much space did you leave for expansion? I am in the process of turning my basement into a library/study for my comics and all of my wife's books and I am trying to figure out how much shelf space I need plus how much I need to leave open for new books. How did you handle this?

Thanks.

I have the measurements somewhere but offhand I don't recall. It's pretty space optimized right now so there really isn't a ton of room for more long boxes. I have a 25 cubed Drawer Box setup in there and have about 50-60 longboxes that are in a storage room elsewhere. My goal is to keep my "collection" to those 25 boxes and dispose (either through sale or donation) of the rest. As you probably can see from the shelves, there is plenty of space to add more collected editions, and most of the drawers in the entertainment center are currently empty so lots of spots for randomness as needed.

In person it's even more impressive.

Everything had a tremendous amount of thought put into it. Really fantastic space!

wood i know u and the other three horsemen of apocolipis

Apocalypse may be the first mutant, but I'm still not Pestilence. No

have huge jobs but god damn how in the hell can you afford all taht

You have to remember that we have been collecting and reading comics for 30+ years on average, so that kind of thing adds up. We're also fortunate enough to have careers that allow us some measure of discretionary spending.

I feel like my 500 dollar a month is nothing compared to u

In months where there's a con, I spend more than that sure. But on an average month I spend a few hundred dollars including DCBS and trades.

fuck lol i have 6k issues and 400 at least trades how does ur wife let u have all that damn i want a room like that but a i live at my parents

Remember I've been married for 10 years and we're in our 2nd home. This home is large enough (again, we're fortunate) that a dedicated space for comics is totally feasible. I didn't have that luxury for nearly 10 years of home ownership prior to this.

I sort alphabetically, all publishers are combined.

As I said earlier, I have 25 DrawerBoxes in that room but 50-60 other long boxes in storage elsewhere in the house.

Must I be the lone voice of reason? Must I be the contrarian? Must I be Derek Coward?

DAP: there ya go!

Overall Impression--

It was like Matt Kindt's Revolver. It was good but not great.

The Details--

I could see some major paint roller marks. Concrete is tough to paint anyway. Maybe the
primer was not suited for the topcoat. Sometimes the roller can get sticky. That can make
it leave traces.

Did you mask off you trim with blue painter's tape? It looks like you colored outside the
lines in several places.

Would: Professional painter needed in the house, bitches!

The Contents:

I didn't see any books on the shelves that typify your personality. All the books seem to
be podcast cohort-approved. What's the over and under going to be for when CoqueBown sneaks
in on a shelf? Let's start it at 4 months and see how the betting goes.

And how do I say this? Would has always been quick to point out that his very large amount
of discretionary income is dwarfed by his salary. Good for you. That said, IKEA? Really?
I guess I expected to see built-in old-wood shelving.

VinceBeanworld: (editor's note: the following was deleted for brevity's sake. I'll refer
everyone to Alex Lifeson who is trying to explain what VB was trying to say:)

http://www.youtube.com/v/lcRCFHVxNDs&rel=1

That's Would on the left with Stan and Mort Drucker. Ok Would, what bet did you lose that
required you to ruin your Stanley photo opp by wearing that hat?

ChrysNiceman: Listen jerk, I'm drunk on chocolate beer, and I'll kick your ass and anybody
else's who calls me Mort Drucker.

And there you have it.

Special Bonus:

This is part of the conversation between VB and DAP before the other 2 members skype in:

VB: ......and that's why I agree with Eddie Campbell about Vince Colletta. He erased stuff
only when he was pressed for time. Who among us hasn't hopped off the toilet before the

cigar got fully extinguished?

DAP: There ya go!

Spiders aren't rampant, and certainly there are probably a few in each room in the house at given points of time. They don't spread like the plague though and actually help keep other pests under control. Beyond that we keep the house very clean.

Nice work, Woodrow! It's certainly an inspiration as Jan and I start looking for a new house over the next few months. A comic/games room is a key feature for us, and now I'm going to have an easier time visualizing just how I want it to look!

Wood, I'm curious, do your boys have access to your room? I know you're cool with them reading comics, but surely there is some content in those HCs you don't want them stumbling onto just yet.

It's funny, but listening to you, it's clear your a HC nut. You get the chubbs over sexy oversized editions and what-not, but that doesn't seem to translate to prose books. Rocking out with the soft cover of World War Z and that Stephen King book.

And I'm a big fan of the limited use of statues. I love looking at other people's massive collections of figures, statues, and all, but I think the more pulled back "collections" look the best.
