I learned most of my Marvel history from trading cards not comic books. It was a lot easier to get my parents to by me a pack of cards than some floppies.
my dad had a card shop when the first marvel card set came out. the cards guided me back to the superheroes that i knew from cartoons and coloring books as a very small child. i still refer to my card sets for quick comic info.

i thought that the last few episodes weren't the strongest. with this new one they're back in form.
I thought your last few posts were rubbish, but it's good to see you rounding back into form.

Lost Girls. Purchased blindly just because of the creators.
Not a prude, although I pretend to be online and "on air". No regrets in buying it, nor reading it. That being said, I will not be keeping it.
There's several reasons, but if you have read it you probably know the one main reason why.

Has Wheels read it or at least seen it? I know he loves the boobies.

I think Lost Girls is awesome. Don't be such a prude slurmo absolutely. Also, it starts off well written then it just degrades in both language and content. I'd be fine with it if it was only about 100 pages. Too much of the same thing, although it has a ton of stunning visuals. The tin man splash is amazing. Has Wheels read it or at least seen it? I know he loves the boobies.
He will be the proud owner of it the next time I see him.

I'm assuming we're all in a similar age group. Those cards were extremely popular, and they certainly influenced my comic love. My favorite were the cards depicting famous battles. They made me want to find all those issues with Hulk vs Thing fights.

To me, the phrase "guilty pleasure" is an oxymoron. Unless someone is actually being harmed (i.e., harmed and they don't like it; calm down all my S&M friends!), how can a "pleasure" be "guilty"? Seriously. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so I have nothing to confess about comics! I like what I like, and thus I have nothing to confess. Sequential Art, baby!! Onward and upward, in ALL of its forms!!!! Wahoo!!!!
You're probably not Catholic. Pretty much all pleasure is guilt-worthy. This statement itself might even be guilt-worthy. I'd better go check w/ Fr. Murphy.

I thought it was the Jewish mothers who heaped on all the guilt?! Perhaps this is another commonality to all religions?! HA! Whatever! As I said, Sequential Art, baby!! Onward and Upward!!

Not only is Wheels the proud owner of Lost Girls he posted a picture of his wife reading the book on twitter. (he's mad at me for getting him into comics and now he's getting her into comics too. My devious plan is finally paying off!)

I'm a bit of a prude, both online and off, but still feel I gave this book a fair shot. While I can appreciate it the way I can something like Salo, this is something I will NEVER read again. Resold almost immediately.

I read the entire thing. Gave it it's fair shot. It's in a better, more loving home now.

I've been hesitant to even make this confession here.
Dave Gibbons. I respect what he's worked on, he's a more than capable artist for sure. But I've never been impressed by his work at all. I just don't get why it's a big deal.

While I personally don't agree with you on this; I'm stoked that you have posted your opinion. This place should be safe for all viewpoints. So karma. Concerning Gibbons, I don't think that character design is a strong suit of his. Sometimes his figures are hard to look at from a fashion stand point. However, I'd kill someone in front of their mother to be able to have the technical control he has over page layouts. I think his perspective work is awesome.

while it was the image creators that got me into comics in the nineties, i was 10 and buying comics from your school mates for speculators price blew through lunch money. so i haven't read much of the early image. I'm probably going to rectify that this year though. for the same price of a single issue in the 90s, i can get the whole run.

There are times where I've almost dropped it. This past issue is one of those times. He ebbs & flows. The book suffers from outside commitments. But when he's on point the enthusiasm jumps off of the page. different strokes
