Great month Monsta.  I loved everyone's old... and new takes on their characters.  This month I'm in charge so I'll just cut all of the pomp and circumstance and get right to it.

*******************************************

OK everyone.  I haven't taken the reigns in awhile, but May is gonna' be my month.  I just came back from an awesome weekend at C2E2 (where I bought 2 sets of Copic warm & cool grays and Copic MultiLiner's.  Now... I'm ready to use them.

So here's what we're gonna' do.  We're gonna' draw...

 Hearts HeartsCheesecake Hearts Hearts

That's right fanboys and fangirls, we're doing good girl art in the styles of... and inspired by... such modern masters of the form as

Adam Hughes   Drool

Terry Dodson   Downtown

Arthur Adams I'd Hit It Sign

and Frank Cho  Swooning

Now here's the catch... like any good tease, you have to put spoiler tags on them.  Also, to keep in theme with the art of the tease, there can be NO nudity (This means that you can't show the naughty bits).  Make your drawings as sexy as you can, but keep it within the guidelines.  But most importantly HAVE FUN DRAWING!!

Lastly, I've already said that I believe that this month will set a record for most views in a month  Whistle.  But it would be SUPER COOL if we could knock down the "most pages record" set by the Spidey-villians month too.

*******************************************

HAVE FUN!

If you're new to the thread here's how it works.  We're here to have fun and to sharpen our drawing skills.  All amateurs & professionals are welcome to participate.  If you want to submit a piece of artwork, here are the rules...Number #1) only post characters for the current month's assignment (a little spillover is OK from the previous month)...Number #2) You must be the artist (we're not looking for your original art collection, that's another thread)...& Number #3) (and most importantly) Have fun drawing.

Britain, Britain, Britain. Those were the words proudly spoken by none other than the fourth Doctor Who at the beginning of that comedy show about Britain and its many colourful characters.

“So what?” you might ask. Well, this month Mrs Queen of Britain is celebrating a landmark only accomplished by one other Monarch. It’s the Diamond Jubilee.

Everywhere you look there are Union Jacks either on poles, on cars or on food, drink and sweet packaging. People are having street parties, bbq’s and schools are giving away the usual tat to the children, when there’s a Royal event.

“But what the hell has this got to do with COMICS, Sim!?!”

I thought this would be a great opportunity, therefore, to celebrate the shining Diamonds that are British comics and their creators. British comics have been around much longer than Liz, so there’s a wealth of history to delve into. Anybody who hasn’t seen the excellent BBC documentary Comics Britannia, I highly recommend it. So whether it be the early strips that appeared in the like of Punch, The Dandy or the Beano, to the strips like Andy Cap, Striker or George and Lynne (look them up) we get in the daily newspapers, or just the visual and mental pleasure the British men and women have given us all through the medium of 2000AD, Eagle and those great American companies Marvel, DC, Image, IDW, etc… the British connection is a vital artery to the beating heart of the comics industry.

As you can see by my introductory art piece, I’ve tried to include a few of the characters you could have a go at doing. I’ve taken a liberty of sorts by including King Alan of Moore in my piece AND some of the characters he’s written or created, which is quite a lot. The Watchmen, for example, would they fall in the category of British comics? No, but the Godfather created them. So, I’ll leave it up to you how you interpret his contributions to this month’s challenge. I’m easy. I think I’ve cast the net pretty wide on this, but the more the merrier, I say.

I’m looking forward to what I’m going to see and to bring this superb community together once more for another month of awesome art.

So, best foot forward, stiff upper lip, sharpen that pencil… No, none of those are British innuendos for masturbation; they mean LET’S MAKE THIS MONTH ONE TO REMEMBER!

Tally ho, and all that.

For those of you wondering...
1.   Doctor Who and a Dalek
2.   Tank Girl
3.   Plug from The Bash Street Kids (the Beano)
4.   Sid the Sexist (Viz)
5.   Dennis the Menace & Gnasher (The Beano)
6.   King Alan of Moore
7.   Judge Dredd (2000AD)
8.   V (V for Vendetta)
9.   Dr. Manhattan (Watchmen)
10.   Bananaman (Nutty, The Dandy and The Beano)
11.   Captain Britain (Marvel UK)
12.   Danger Mouse (Look-in)
13.   Desperate Dan (The Dandy)
14.   Tharg (Eagle)
15.   Korky the Cat (The Dandy)

17.   Dan Dare (Eagle)
18.   Slaine (2000AD)
