so, now both the tickets are set

let me first say that im neither a democrat or a republican, if im anything, im a republicrat...or a demublican but that just sounds weird.

but i digress.

barack obama will win this election for a few resons
1. he has youth compared to mccain, look at our last few elections, the younger guy (not always the smartest, not always the best) wins

2. obama is more charismatic than mccain, and people dig that about him. the most engaging ive ever seen mccain be was at the saddleback forum on the presidency, however all he was trying to do there was mimick regan, which he did quite well.

3. stronger ticket. mccain shot himself in the foot in my oppinion earlier today picking who he picked, it came off to me as trying to say "hey look at me, i can be just as history making as obama. see? woman vp!" which smacks of desperation to me. also, he lost alot of the conservative vote i think with the choice, alot of people i know (and disagree with mind you, but still know) think that a woman has no business being in a position of such power, and at least here in the southern states sadly, that is still a fairly widespread view of things, he had a chance to make a splash with his vp choice, and in my oppinion he missed it.

so, that said, let's discuss

Did you seen McCain & Obama interviewed by that preacher guy last week?
This clip made me feel like hope was slipping away:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Yw-3rnU4Tk&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/7Yw-3rnU4Tk&rel=1</a>
We're still at a point where (I think) the majority of American people believe in "EVIL" and they want to blow it up. The crowd went nuts for that. Obama waded through some kind of muddled response, not because he doesn't have the tools to answer it, but because the question is naive and stupid.
I guess my problem with the public is that there are still people who think that our invasion and occupation of Iraq has some direct (logical) correlation to 9/11. We're morons. I'd try and type something a little more thought out and coherent, but I'm at work.  Cheesy

I am, of course, completely biased...let me get that out first...I want Obama to win and believe that it would be best for the country...

However, I have to admit, that if anyone could give him a run for his money, it might be McCain...he has the ability to defend his position on Iraq given his war hero status, and for the great majority of other issues, he's been a somewhat contrasting opinion to Bush...he's close enough to the center to not upset too many independents...and, with Hillary out of the running and so many Dem's who had an extreme loyalty to her, his choice of VP now gives them another option...if they were looking for a free-speaking female, they now have one to vote for on the other ticket...it was a brilliant choice by McCain...as was Obama's choice of Biden...

The biggest questions will be where the country will lean on the status of the war...if McCain can eliminate a lot of talk on that and move talk onto domestic issues, Obama is going to have more of a problem due to his experience issue...McCain can crush him there...if talk lingers on the big three issues, War, Economy, Environment, I think it will be a cakewalk for the Democrats...

I want Obama to win, too. I guess watching American Dictators (Alex Jones' uber-paranoid new world order/election-rigging doc) and Jesus Camp just made me feel tired and overwhelmed.
I stopped visiting another comics message board when a very vocal right-wing dude came on and started lots of political talk and ran me off. I wanted to talk about Mac Gargan Venom vs. Eddie Brock Venom, not read rants that call Obama the liberals' "magic negro" that will destroy America.   Angry

I had hoped that McCain would not give in to the pressure of being "trendy or historical" and would have chosen Romney as his running mate.  However, if Palin comes out strong and establishes herself as a force to be respected instead of a political "trophy wife", then Obama could be left fighting to pull together every vote he can.

Yesterday, I proposed to my office mates the Bizzaro-world scenario of what if McCain announced he picked Hillary as his running mate?  NEVER would happen, but who doesn't think the Democratic Party wouldn't have gone insane if that happened.  Cheesy

McCain's new mantra should be: "Giving into Pressure."

You know that the 'magic negro' designation came from a liberal writer's (Ehrenstein, or something close to that) article titled the same in the L.A. Times some months ago, right?   Whistle

Personally I agree more with Obama than McCain. I looked at both of their positions on different issues and decided I had A LOT more in common with Obama. This is how I feel people should pick a candidate, unfortunately I have talked to more people who pick their candidate based on looks, others opinions, RACE!, party, and religion (To clarify this one, I have talked to people who think Obama is Muslim, even though he is Christian).

It seems to me that many people have "Deal Breakers" when it comes to choosing a candidate, and the deal breaker isn't really a political issue but a personal one, and I for one find this sad. My boss actually told me, that she was voting for McCain because she didn't think we are ready for a Black President, and if Obama became President he would hire only black people in the White House and make life harder on white people. WTF? She honestly believes this!

Let me sum up, unfortunately more voters are uninformed and ignorant of the issues, and base their voting on something stupid, and it saddens me.

I do, too, because it was meant to be a positive, flattering piece from a guy on 'his side', and somehow got through editorial without anyone batting an eye until Limbaugh picked up on it and then everyone attributted it to him, calling it (and him) racist for it!

...what they say/promise, or what they've done?
BIG difference, 'cause this time of year, it honestly doesn't matter what they say, unless they slip up and say overly stupid stuff.  Theyre both packaged products, with no expectations for truth in advertising.
