so far for the pats Woodhead is our short yardage back?

Yup, just like last year, I see them moving him into the kevin Faulk like role of 3rd down/shortyardage plays.  Brady can screen to him and he's quick enough to find the holes and eek out the extra few yards.  Also like they were saying last night his size almost becomes an advantage as defenses lose him behind the massive offensive linemen.

Obviously very happy with the result last night, but I still would like to see our defense doing a better job of pressuring the QB.  The biggest upside, however, was that the defense was able to make plays on third down and get off the field, which was something that killed us all last season.

Buffalo 1-0                    Tennessee 0-1               Cincinnati 1-0            Denver 0-1

NFC East                            NFC South                NFC North                NFC West

Dallas 0-1                       Carolina 0-1                 Detroit 1-0                Arizona 1-0

Week One Match-ups To Watch
OAK@BUF This one may not be the most glamorous match-up if you look at records from the past few years but Fitzpatrick and the Bills came out firing last week in KC and Oakland had enough in the tank to fend off the Broncos.  I for one am curious to see if Buffalo can repeat last weeks performance, because if they can they could surprise a lot of teams this year.

GB@CAR Did you see Cam Newton's numbers last Sunday?  If he can repeat anything close to that type of performance this week against a Green Bay defense that should present a lot more complicated schemes than Arizona did, Newton will have effectively shut up most of his critics.

SD@NE Simply put the Chargers have not been able to beat New England when it counts in a long, long, time, despite having a lot of talent on their teams.  Now week 2 is clearly not a make or break week for either team but the longer the Chargers go without a win the more New England will be in their head when the big game is on the line.

PHI@ATL Vick returns to Hotlanta with the dream team and we all look to see if Matty Ice is better than his abysmal performance against the Bears last week.  Sunday Night Football at it's finest.

Which games have you excited this week?

Here is a general NFL discussion question?

Sportsmanship

What do you guys think is good sportsmanship in the NFL?

I was just listening to a local sports show (Dallas) and they were breaking down a TV show that had miked up Dez Bryant as he played against Revis on the Sunday night game last week.

On the play thats the turning point in the game (the Romo fumble) before they even knew who came up with the ball Dez turns to Revis and tells him "hey man, just wanted to say that I really respect you" then the refs signal that the Jets got the ball and Revis smiles, chuckles and runs off the field. Leaving Dez to look like the dumbass he is. I found this infuriating.  Hulk

To me I think showing good sportsmanship is not being dirty. I also think its on different levels for different situations. As in when the Cowboys are playing say.......the Chargers I don't mind seeing the players perhaps being friendly with one another but in critical moments you should want to destroy the guy across from you to win the game. However when the Cowboys are playing a division rival like the Eagles I don't want to see Ware sack Vick then hold out his hand and help him up. Yes, that is having good sportmanship but come on man you are grown men trying to defeat each other. At least for the fans sake act like it matters to you as much as it matters to us. Last year Tashard Choice after getting our asses beat by the Eagles went up to Vick and got his fucking autograph.  Bangs Head Bangs Head Bangs Head

So I think its important to have composure and to be decent but for those 4 quarters can we at least act like we dont like the other guys.

The Cowboys are a bunch of bitches. Am I crazy for feeling this way?

You're not crazy, at all.

I was always a McNabb defender, but it drove me NUTS when he would throw a pick or get sacked in a big moment and be running off the field with a huge smile on his face.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. Right now in Dallas Romo is being crucified not only for the huge fumble, and the huge interception at the end of the game but mostly because after the interception he cracked a smile and gave us his "well shucks" look.

People are just about tired of it.

Then you see Brady who is destroying Miami and towards the end of the game one of the offensive linemen jumps off sides and if you watch the tape Brady cusses him out all the way back to the huddle. Who do you think wants to win more?

Unless your Favre then your playful boylike demeanor is the magic of the game....

Unless you are Marino who yells and alienates his receivers and never won the big one....

All of these guys want to win. Peopel aren't all the same. There are times when you need an asshole to yell at people and times when you need someone who can break the tension.

I dunno about that. Romo is a competitor. He manned up and made no bones about the fact that he lost that game for you all, and that real winners bounce back, whereas losers let that kind of thing linger and affect future outcomes.

I do agree with you about Romo on that one. I was speaking more to as how the city is reacting. There are lots of people around here that think we just need to get rid of Romo. Which as a guy like yourself who is a big fan of football knows that, that is ludicrous. Romo is obviously not the best QB in the league but he is still a top ten guy, I believe. So when people say things like that I just wonder who they want the Cowboys to plug in. John Kitna?

I said Romo is top ten but lets see.  Thinking

(no particular order)

1.Brady
2.Vick
3.Brees
4.Rivers
5.Rodgers
6.Roethlisberger

To me those are about the only guys I would want on my team over Romo. I didn't include Manning since he isn't really playing right now.

Yeah that list is almost exactly as I'd have, though I'd switch Rodgers and Rivers.

i always hear the story that in the 1989 Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. The San Francisco 49ers were down by three points with 3:20 left when Joe Montana said "There, in the stands, standing near the exit ramp, Isn't that John Candy?" to his huddle And then he led the 49ers 92 yards, throwing for the winning touchdown with 34 seconds left.

i would care the same if it was divisional or not. my real problem is that shows his head was not in the game. he should have been thinking about how to get around Revis. he save that kind of stuff for post game.

To any Patriots fans in the vicinity of Foxboro today, Drew Bledsoe is being inducted to the team Hall of Fame at 5 PM today.  The ceremony is at the stadium right outside the museum, and it is free to the public.  It's usually a cool event and worth checking out if you're not doing anything else.  I'll be there working, big guy with blonde hair and a short beard wearing a navy polo with the old logo on it.

Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

It just took them a really long time to do it.

I like the Bills this year. Unfortunately their defense is atrocious.

Its like watching little kids play flag football.

Too bad the Seahawks stunk up the place so bad.  It's no fun unless the good guys win.  Even so, I will forever hate the Stealers and Leavy isn't fit to ref a 5th grade touch football game.
