Yeah, I'm sure it will tear the house down. He is a proud SF native. Of course about a decade ago I don't know if it would have been a good idea... risky at least. He seems to have mellowed a bit in the last few years. Would hate to have seen some Rosanne Bar-esque nonsense.

i'd like to see him sing it thru a gas mask a la: http://www.youtube.com/v/Jt856_nRxQk&rel=1

Quote
Funny, I actually haven't thought of this in ages but it's kind of on topic. My brother and I saw Tomahawk open up for Tool years ago, must have been 2002ish maybe because the story makes more sense that way. It was at Arco arena in Sacramento. The Kings had recently been bounced from the WC Finals by the Lakers in a manner that to this day is still disputed. Anyhow, Tomahawk is playing and before the last song, in typical for that time antagonistic Mike Patton shenanigans (much like when Mr Bungle played the Memorial Auditorium dressed as the Village people as part of a package tour and asked how good everyone was at sucking cock), he takes off his shirt and underneath it was a Lakers jersey. The crowd got soooo pissed off, violent even, and to a chorus of boos and hate he shouts "HOW ABOUT THEM LAKERS???!!"

It was hilarious.

Few years later I ran into him at the bar at a Melvins show and got to talk to him for a minute, I told him I was in that crowd and how I couldn't believe he did that. His response was "All is fair in Love and Sports my friend." Good times.

now that is awesome! I had seen them on a similar tour, a couple years prior i think as it was Fantomas opening for Tool @ the Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY... or whatever that arena is called now/then. Was around halloween time and we were running late to the show so Fantomas was in the middle of their set as we were getting to the doors, was the perfect ambiance for that time of year.. all spooky and whacked out haunted house sounding. We were loving it, but the crowd wasn't so into it. There were a few boo's from a mostly disinterested audience to which Patton responded with a "Being in Albany... it's better than being dead!?"

Bruce Arians ... no mas?

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/12019/1204477-66.stm

Rooney had the sit down with him last year and gave the coordinator a "come to Jesus" speech. Looking at the scoring stats it looks like Arians did not get the message. Dummy. Thinking

Everyone knows how much shit Eli Manning takes from the press. Is he elite, is he not elite? I mean, love him or hate him, the guy takes a lot of shit. Another guy who takes a lot of shit is Joe Flacco, and I know the people that watch football on here know that the guy has confidence issues, but for Ed Reed to call him out about it before their championship game tomorrow? Man…I don't know. It doesn't seem very wise when your season is on the line.

Cundiff didn't choke anymore than then Lee Evans. Evans should have held on to the ball and the game would have been over.

That being said I have the Pats in a Super Bowl pool at work. If they win I win a hundred bucks,if they lose I win twenty. It was only ten bucks to get in so I'm money ahead.

I also have to give credit to Eil Manning…that guy gets treated like garbage, and the niners pounded that guy into the mud tonight and he took it, took it like a man and came up with the win. Big f'ing props.

I was reading an article a while back about how quick teams are to fire coaches nowadays in the NFL and especially in regards to how great coaches such as Tom Landry, Don Shula, and Chuck Knoll would have never survived in the current culture.

What does everyone else think?

i think teams like the redskins, dolphins and browns are hurt by firing coaches so often. they are basically changing their whole team every 2 to 3 years and never allowing for the team to grow in a set system.

I was reading an article a while back about how quick teams are to fire coaches nowadays in the NFL and especially in regards to how great coaches such as Tom Landry, Don Shula, and Chuck Knoll would have never survived in the current culture.

What does everyone else think?

It's tempting to say that, and the best example would be Bill Cowher, who had success but "couldn't win the big game" until his 14th season in Pittsburgh. Noll (not Knoll) fits that bill..he only won 12 games in his first three seasons, and Landry is the poster boy for this kind of argument, he started his career with five losing seasons, and only went .500 in his 6th. He ABSOLUTELY wouldn't have been retained to turn the franchise around, by any owner these days.

But the truth is, the great coaches have GENERALLY shown they can win big time fairly quickly. I'm not sure if you threw Shula's name out there, but he really doesn't fit into the Noll/Landry camp...Shula was a big time winner from the very start.

Don Shula -- Never had a losing record from day one with the Colts and won three division titles before winning the championship in 1968. He then went on to win 10+ games in his first six seasons in Miami, including two Super Bowl titles.

Bill Walsh -- Walsh came from Stanford to fix one of the league's laughing stocks...and so his 2-14 record to start his career was completely understandable. He won six games in his second season, and then won the Super Bowl in his 3rd season. The rest of his Hall of Fame career is history.

Joe Gibbs -- Gibbs went .500 in his first year, and won the Super Bowl the following season.

Tom Flores -- Flores took over for a legend (John Madden), and went 9-7 in his first year, and then won the Super Bowl in year two. He won another Super Bowl three years later.

Bill Parcells -- Only won 3 games in his first year, but won 9 and 10 games, respectively in the next two seasons, before winning his first Super Bowl in 1986, his 4th season as a head coach.

Jimmy Johnson -- Johnson won a horrific 1 game in his first season after being a college powerhouse at Miami, but won a respectable 7 games in Year 2, and then 11 games the following year. He, like many others on this list, won a Championship in his 4th season (and 5th).

George Seifert -- Seifert replaced one of the best coaches of all-time in Bill Walsh, and had enormous expectations. He met them by going 14-2 and winning the Super Bowl in his first year at the helm. While some may have questioned whether he was just keeping the motor revving that Walsh had built, Seifert won no fewer than 10 games in each of the next four years, before winning another Super Bowl in 1994 (which was clearly 100% his team).

Mike Shanahan -- Shanny won 8 games in his first year in Denver, 13 the next, and then won back to back Super Bowls in his 3rd and 4th seasons

Bill Belichick -- A lot of people forget that Bill B won a Super Bowl in only his 2nd season in New England. Many think it took a lot longer because they remember Bill's struggles in Cleveland, but Belichick won three Super Bowls in his first five seasons as a Patriot.

Bottom Line -- All the modern era great coaches, defined (by me) as guys that have won more than one Super Bowl, all had success quickly, with the exceptions of Noll and Landry.

I was thinking Shula's Dolphin career in comparison to someone such as Tom Coughlin's career as Giants HC. Coughlin, someone who in 6-7 years has been to the playoffs three times and is going to his second superbowl but always seems close to losing his job, but maybe that has to do with location and media?

How many coaches were fired this year, 6-7? Has that always been the percentile of turnover?

So the Buccaneers are now the only team without a head coach, i'm at the point where i think they have no idea what they are doing. If i have suffer through having Mike Sherman coach the Bucs i'm not sure my fridge can hold enough beer to get me through a game.
