Tom,

All joking aside, is your green and gold stomach in knots because of Sunday?  I can honestly say the two week break is killing me!

OMG, it seems like EVERYONE is picking the Packers.  It doesn't matter if it is a NFL analyst, stat reading machine or a chicken picking corn out of bowls marked Steelers/Packers... Christ even my Daughter's Hello Kitty magic eight ball is going against my beloved Black and Gold. No

I gotta stay strong.

I'm sure the Steelers are picking the Steelers.  Wink

Besides, if professional sports teams couldn't play the underdog card, I don't know what they'd say in interviews.

Leave it to fans of a franchise with SIX rings already to delude themselves into "everyone is taking the Packers against us" for motivation. The line is -2.5...that means it's nearly 50/50 people betting on the Steelers and the Packers. SLIGHTLY more folks are taking the Packers to win, SLIGHTLY.

But if y'all need the motivation of thinking you're somehow being disrespected on your "Stairway to Seven", then go for it.

Don't misunderstand my post.  I'm not on the field so the old sports motivational cliche of "us against the world" does nothing for me... I'm just realizing that I am a superstitious sports fan looking for a gleam of light.  Wink

I know it's a 50/50 shot.  He'll, what I'm hoping for is that the Steelers' experience can take advantage of the first quarter.  When the lights are big and bright in Packers eyes the Steelers can grab a few quick points before the Packers get steadied by the begining of the second quarter.  Mind you, I believe this is the ONLY forseeable experience advantage I can think of.

Not at all. I just find it amusing that the "we're being disrespected" card could be played even by a team like the Steelers, that is as storied a franchise as exists in the league. The Giants were "disrespected" against the 18-0 Patriots. The Cardinals were "disrespected" against these very Steelers. Pittsburgh is hardly disrespected.

I think a lot of PIT fans or confusing people WANTING the Packers to win with people THINKING they're going to win. A lot more people do seem to WANT the Packers to win, which I think is understandable because the last thing most diehard fans want to see is another team start working it's way into a "modern dynasty" mode.

It's all good, Wood. I was only given you a little poke (thats what she said).
We have a similar phenomenon here in Australia in our "State of Origin" series for Rugby League. There are 2 teams only (NSW & Queensland) and every year Queensland claim underdog status. Last year they had won 4 series in a row, which is a record and the way they did it was just demorilizing to us NSW supporters. Yet, somehow, they come out every year and claim they are the underdogs, its us against the rest of Australia, everyone wants to see Queensland get beat, blah, blah, blah.....
And once again they came out and smashed us. Underdogs my arse.

As I'm in the shower this morning something just occurred to me...  How akward/ironic would it be if James Harrison were lucky enough to win Superbowl MVP?  Just watching the exchange between Harrison and Goodell would be priceless!

Another year and another incomplete pass from the HOF to Cris Carter.  Roll Eyes

I fixed that for you. Wink

It's ridiculous that he didn't even make the cut ahead of Red this year. Carter was the second best receiver of his era, behind Rice, and he should have been a slam dunk entrant into the Hall. Now, I'm wondering if he'll even get in.

Every year, I hear HOF voters talk about the logjam of deserving players for the Hall while also talking about how the exclusivity of the Pro Football HOF helps make it special. If there's that much of a logjam (and there is) then perhaps it's time to let an extra player or two in per year. They certainly shouldn't be excluding players to vote in Ed Sabol. I'm not saying Sabol doesn't deserve a spot because I think he does but maybe candidates who weren't players or coaches need to go in as an extra inductee that year rather than bumping a deserving player from one of the few open slots.

A friend of mine e-mailed me the link below. It's from the Washington City Paper, it's The Cranky Redskins Fan's Guide to Dan Snyder

http://mirror.washingtoncitypaper.com/articles/40063/the-cranky-redskins-fans-guide-to-dan-snyder.html

I REALLY don't like Snyder. At all. He's like a bratty 11 year old playing Madden, but is terrible at it. At least Vinny Cerrato's gone though, so I guess that's SOMETHING.

Anyway, I thought it was a sad and funny article about the leagues new, probably worse, Al Davis
