Seconded.
Between Vick and Roethlisberger, I'm actively rooting against the state of Pennsylvania this season.
Hey, I'll never defend Michael Vick as a human being. That's one of the things I'm most excited about this year's bumper crop of free agents. Mathis, Nnamdi and Cullen Jenkins are all good human beings as well as excellent players.

Congrats Wood on your team making some good moves, being a Pats fan I'm just happy the Jets didn't get Asomugha. You may not think Vick is not a good human being but there's a theory that talented free-agents are signing with Philly to play behind him. I am wondering if Boston/Philly might become a big heated rivalry if (no jinx) and I acknowledge it's a big if, Red Sox vs. Phillies and Pats vs. Eagles happens in some championship games.

No offense to Chris Campbell (or my dad), but Sidney Rice will quickly learn this year that money isn't everything. The Seahawks are where decent wide receivers go to die. Didn't Rice do any homework before he signed there? Did he think he was escaping Tavaris Jackson?
Ha! You wound me. Receives can flourish in Seattle, but they're often the ones you don't suspect. And of course, that was when Matt Hasselbeck was there. Now, I guess I kinda agree with your sentiment. Bobby Engram Joe Jurevicius Mike Williams That being said, I'm still glowing from the defeat of the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs, and Marshawn Lynch's amazing TD run. That'll hold me over for a few years...

I used to draft Darrell Jackson each year, he was as solid as they come for several years there.

Tarvaris Jackson I am truly baffled as to what Seattle is doing. When you see moves the Eagles and Patriots make this offseason, then you see what teams like Seattle and Cincy do, it is so clear which organizations have their sh!t together and know how to work a system.

Randy Moss to retire according to his agent.
Can't say I'm totally surprised after last season.

Seattle is clearly looking for somebody to fill a gap while we draft someone for the future. They traded for Charlie Whitehurst, who played sporadically behind Hasselbeck, but he was clearly not being groomed to be the future. And then we pick up Tarvaris Jackson for some stupid reason. Pete Carroll wants to draft and mould his own quarterback. Period. And now I see reports that they released Lofa Tatupu. One week after Hasselbeck? FUCK. ME.

Tarvaris Jackson Didn't he at least show flashes in 2008 at the end of the season? There weren't really all that many great options for the Seahawks.

Perhaps. Not sure. I'm just bitter right now and making unfounded conclusions about this playing ability. I've only seen him play in one game. But my solution would be: give Hasselbeck a 3 year deal, draft your QB in the draft, and give him 2 years to mentor. Titans are smart. Seahawks, not so much.

Yeah I get that. I guess my question was more figurative. I know they need someone to fill the spot but I just don't see that as being Tavaris Jackson. I could be wrong but from what I have seen from the guy I have no faith in him as a legitimate starting qb. I don't know Seattle's cap situation but for a stopgap measure I would have gone after Orton and plugged him in for a year or two. But who knows, maybe Pete Carroll has something up his sleeve.

I thought it was funny that Leinart had the opportunity to be part of the Seahawks, play for Carroll, and compete for the starting job and was like, ahhhh fuck it i'm going to Houston to be a back up. That guy is clearly passionate about the game of football.

I would have liked to see Hasselbeck back in Seattle (not for a 3 year deal though), but I guess he just didn't want to. What was the deal breaker for him? Contract length?
Orton would have been nice, too, but Denver seems to want a lot for compensation.

Hey Wood, me and my buddy at work are thinking about going to NYC next year for the draft. How did you get tickets for the draft? Did you have to wait in line? Do they go really fast?
We would be coming from Illinois and we don't want to the risk of not being able to get tickets.

yeah, it was contract length, i believe. But you need the 3 years to do the whole Favre/Rodgers conversion process ...

I just got some terrible news. NFL won't be shown on Australian free-to-air TV this season! The only way to get it will be pay tv. Looks like I will be visiting uncle torrent a few times a week this season. F$%$^n Murdoch and his stupid money hungry ways. Lachlan Murdoch has decided not enough people watch NFL to warrant putting it on free to air (it was shown on a channel owned by the Murdochs) so is giving sole broadcast to the pay tv provider Foxtel. Interestingly Mr Murdoch is a also director of the global media giant News Corp, who owns 25 per cent of Foxtel *hint hint nudge nudge* Foxtels coverage of the NFL is very ordinary - televising games of little or no interest and generally showing they don't give a crap. Nice one. Good job on increasing the awareness of the sport and giving fans who can't afford $60/month a chance to to watch their favourite sport. Jerk.

I know alot of people over here in the UK subscribe to NFL gamepass which allows you to watch all the games live over the internet, its not cheap at about £150 for the season but probably cheaper that having to subscribe to a new channel
