I would have liked to see Hasselbeck back in Seattle (not for a 3 year deal though), but I guess he just didn't want to. What was the deal breaker for him? Contract length?
Orton would have been nice, too, but Denver seems to want a lot for compensation. [/quote
The Seahawks weren't willing to commit to Hasselbeck beyond this year, and he (correctly) felt he could get a multi-year contract elsewhere.
Orton is the ultimate tease, I don't blame Seattle for passing on him. And it's not really that Denver wanted too much, it's that Orton wants a contract extension in line with the $63 million deal Kevin Kolb got -- and Orton isn't worth that kind of a deal.

Hey Wood, me and my buddy at work are thinking about going to NYC next year for the draft. How did you get tickets for the draft? Did you have to wait in line? Do they go really fast?
We would be coming from Illinois and we don't want to the risk of not being able to get tickets.
Tickets are free, you just have to wait in a loooooooooong line. By the way, I didn't go inside the draft this year, I just hung with some buddies who were covering the draft for their respective jobs. When I do go to that draft, though, I've got the press hook up  ... kind of like how we 11OC yokels get to bypass the lines at conventions.

Neither is Kolb.
Which is exactly why the Eagles are brilliant for getting DRC + a 2nd for him

I am wondering what moves the Steelers will make to get under the cap. Some vets have restructured deals but they are still about $7 million over... who is gonna get cut? the Tiki

My understanding is Big Ben has already agreed to a restructuring of his deal, which will get them where they need to be.

When Tarvaris Jackson is your QB, you need to load up on weapons. Jim Jackson and Whitehurst are going to battle it out for the #1 spot. I'm not sure Jackson is the foregone conclusion here. But Miller, woohoo. This is John Carlson's last year on the contract, so hopefully he has a contract year.

Pete C has already named Tarvaris the Week One starter. He really believes in him. Remember your new OC Darrel Bevell was the Vikes OC under Brad Childress, and lobbied for both Tarvaris and Sidney Rice.

I had no idea. I didn't even know we had a new OC. I new we got Tom Cable as the new O-Line coach, which reportedly was helpful in getting Gallery and Miller, but apparently I've got to get on my game. I've been too focused on my Mariners I should be ashamed. Only being able to watch Red Zone (and not the game in full) the last 2 years with the lil' guys, I haven't been able to follow as closely as before when I new every player on the roster and every assistant.

If only somebody wrote an article explaining the NFL's coaching changes from year to year? http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2011/11wood_coaching.php

I just saw an article that was comparing The Eagles moves to the Miami Heat. I don't know how they relate as I think the Eagles have made some terrific, wish it was my team kind of moves but nothing comparable to signing a Lebron. While at the same time being as I am a big Mavericks fan and an even bigger Cowboys fan (guess where I live) oh I hope its true!!!

"The Heat" thing was unfortunately Jason Babin's fault. He's no Rhodes Scholar, and compared the Eagles to the Heat, and of course everyone has started to run with that. Andy set the record straight this morning. In a way I'm glad they're getting all this hype out of the way now because it gives Andy reason to be extra hard on them come August 4th when everyone can practice.

He's an awesome player, but he suffers from the same thing my 8-year old does. He is incapable of thinking about what he wants to say before saying it. On a positive note, the Woodley contract will go a long way to getting the 'Burgh under the cap today.

Goodell stuff This has gone waaaaay beyond Harrison. The quiet zen like Polomalu has made comments that are out of character. Now Ryan Clark (a man who has won the internal Rooney award for his positive relationship with the media) is picking fights with reporters on the Goodell subject. He has also also started a silly verbal battle with the local radio station who he has a sponsored gig with once a week. I agree with the overall points about Goodell but the execution is not to my liking. The Tiki
