http://www.newsarama.com/comics/marvel-comics-the-architects-101206.html

No surprises here:
Quote
But just who are the writers in Marvel’s Architects?

·       Brian Michael Bendis, writer of Avengers, New Avengers, Death of Spider-Man, the upcoming Moon Knight and an upcoming top secret project
·       Matt Fraction, writer of Thor, Invincible Iron Man, and a top secret upcoming event
·       Ed Brubaker, writer of Captain America, Secret Avengers and top secret upcoming new series
·       Jonathan Hickman, writer of Fantastic Four,  S.H.I.E.L.D. and a top secret upcoming new series
·       Jason Aaron, writer of Wolverine, Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine and a top secret upcoming new series

Talk about marketing hype that's unnecessary....

"Hey, you know the top writers who do all our main books that we (mostly) charge you $3.99 for and you pay it willingly?   Now we're going to call them "The Architects"!

What will make me happy is if all the "Top Secret new projects" are $2.99.......

They are YOUNG GUNS!  But with word processors instead of pencils.

And doesn't this get filed under news you already knew?

Well 3.5 out of 5 isn't bad?   Wink  I thought this was going to be a thread about a follow up to Hickman's Shield called the Architects  Shifty Eyes I think they all have top secret upcoming stuff.

And doesn't this get filed under news you already knew?

Nothing sold out so they had to market something.

Newsarama: redefining the slow news day.

It's actually more along the lines of Newsarama defining how comics "journalism" on the web goes:  regurgitation of whatever press releases come along interspersed with interviews & reviews.

Since they don't really build anything, wouldn't it have been better to call them "Housekeeping" instead?

And pop-up ads. Don't forget the pop-up ads.

Chris: I'd argue Hickman is actually building things, but the rest? I definitely agree.

Super curious what the top-secret new books are though.

I wish people like Van Lente and Parker got a nod.

I wish they wouldn't spit in the face of people like Jack Kirby by actually believing that they are creating things.

It's a little early to be drinking, Chris.  You know we're not recording tonight, right?

EDIT: Creating may be a stretch, but they are building on things that came before.

Seriously.
How can you call yourself "An Architect" when 90% of what you do is make somebody else's creation walk around and talk? It's just silly.

It's more like Tuckpointing.

That's why I think you can only make an argument for Hickman.  His stuff in S.H.I.E.L.D. and Secret Warriors has been full of brand new ideas and characters. There's lots of great new interesting stuff in FF also.

Is he Kirby? No.  Is he the closest of those 5 to him in terms of pure imagination and throwing ideas out there? Yes.

Exactly. Kirby, Ditko, Lee...those guys are The Architects. These guys are just keeping the floors clean and making sure the faucets are left dripping when it freezes.

That's why I say I can see a case for "building on" and not "creating".

Why make a point of it at all?

Just tell stories that don't suck and shut up. You're fucking comic book writers, not cultural icons.
