So a little birdy told me that a few of your beloved co-hosts with the most(est?)  Shifty Eyes may be participating in an episode on another popular podcast soon to celebrate the hotness looming in comics in 2011. I'm sure those co-hosts will do just fine coming up with their own stuff to talk about, but this is the SEASON FOR GIVING AND CELEBRATION.

Let's hear what YOU are really intrigued about, or looking forward to in 2011? Even if you're not sure what's coming, feel free to riff on the stuff in 2010 you're so psyched about that you can't wait to see what happens next.

I'll chime back in with some stuff I'm anticipating with giddiness in short order.  Yes

Well I really excited about how the Batverse shook out after The Return of Bruce Wayne.  I like the idea of Dick Grayson taking the mantle in Gotham and allowing Bruce to be the global enforcer that he really all ready is by being a member of the JLA.  I am also really enjoying the Tim Drake Red Robin series.  Another thing is the Geoff Johns Flash Omnibus that is coming out later in 2011, after seeing the high quality of production that DC put into the silver age Green Lantern Omnibus I can not wait to get my hands on those stories.  In the Marvel side I am excited to see how Hickman is going to put all of the pieces back together on FF and the culmination of Jason Aaron's Astonishing Wolverine and Spider - Man.  For Image, I really am hoping the continue with the slipcased Spawn releases, as someone who has always wanted to read the early parts of the character they have been amazing. I am hoping that  Dark Horse releases the fourth Library edition of Hellboy.  Finally, the loads of comic book movies that are being released in theaters make me giddy!

Hmmmm....

  • The return of the Hack/Slash monthly, this time at Image. I know we haven't really gone a month without any Hack/Slash since it left DDP, but it's been mostly spin-off and prequel stuff. I'm ready to get back to the continuing adventures of Cassie and Vlad.
  • Earth One Batman. I like Geoff Johns' stuff, I love Gary Frank's stuff, I think they do wonderful collaborations together, and I'm very interested to see what they'll do with a character who, frankly, seems a bit outside of either of their wheelhouses.
  • Batwoman. Never thought I'd be looking forward to one, much less two, Bat-books, but the #0 issue blew my socks off, and if that level of quality gets delivered on even a semi-monthly basis, I'll be a happy camper.
  • I think I saw somewhere that Peter Bagge is working on a sequel to Other Lives for Vertigo, so if that comes out next year, that'll be high on the list.
  • King of the Flies Vol. 2. Chris was right on a recent episode, the first one was a really good book. The next one, scheduled for January, is highly anticipated in my house.
  • Love From the Shadows. Gilbert Hernandez' third OGN detailing the B-movie films produced, written by, and starring his Love & Rockets characters. I still haven't gotten to The Troublemakers yet, but Chance in Hell was awesome.
  • The return of Stray Bullets, as a Kickstarter project. (Please?  Cheesy)

    • More Parker and Hardman on Hulk

Hasn't Hardman not been on the last few issues solicited?

Still....for me....I've started skipping most teaser stuff so as not to get spoiler, but I'm most looking forward to the continual evolution of digital comics in 2011.  I think we'll see some new initiatives and not all will be good, but some will be and those have the most hope for leading the comic industry out of this death spiral that the direct market only model has caused.

    Genuinely Excited
    Proof: Endangered
I'm really excited for the return of Proof. I wasn't reading comics when it first came out, but I now have all the trades and plan to read this series monthly. I figure it needs my support, and I'll gladly give it to such a wonderful book. I'm looking forward to seeing how it reads monthly.

    Flashpoint
The Flash is my favorite character, and I'm loving Johns/Manapul relaunch. I hope we get a good combination of Sinestro Corps War and Speedster sensibilities. I also hope we get good Kubert and not bad Kubert.

    Super Dinosaur
I didn't realize it was possible to combine so many of my favorite things into one book. Robots, dinosaurs, a secret, hollow Earth, and mad scientists? Combine that with the talents of Kirkman and Howard along with a fun, all ages approach and we have the winner for Rusty's most anticipated comic of 2011.

    Witch Doctor (Hopefully)
My LCS got a copy of the preview issue for Witch Doctor, another Skybound project. It is absolutely amazing. It's a really interesting mix between the supernatural and science. It's a cross between Proof and House. I hate comparisons like these, but it works. I'm hoping that the first mini comes out some time during 2011 as promised.

    Buddy Baker: The Righteous Maker
Unlike most, I really liked the marketing campaign. I think it was excessive and might have missed the point, which I think represents the protagonist really well.

    Casanova
Another series I missed as it was coming out, I'm really enjoying the recolored/relettered reprints with the sweet back matter interviews. Really looking forward to the actual new stuff coming out later in 2011.

    Cautiously Excited
    Jennifer Blood
I've never read a single Garth Ennis book ever. This could be interesting, but it also looks too similar to Scarlet, especially with the covers. I'm not familiar with the artist either. Could be good, but I'm not certain.

    Fantastic Four
I'm absolutely loving what Hickman's been doing with the FF. It's been fun but also deep and serious. That said, I'm not sure where this whole 'death' thing is going. It could be really cool, especially if this is what Hickman has been building towards. On the other hand, the whole polybagged, no overprint marketing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm not very knowledgeable about what's sure to come out in 2011, but these are some of the things I'd like to see/have a good chance to see:

    * A new project from the Lunas.  Liked Girls, liked Ultra, loved The Sword.  What's next, guys?

    * Habibi?  It's supposedly done, finally, and it's a matter of getting it on the schedule and printed, which hopefully will be sometime next year.

    * Stumptown Comics Festival.  I go every year.  Maybe Emerald Con or another larger convention, too.  It would be great to see a few 11 o'clock peeps this year.

    * Amulet volume 4, more Hellboy-verse, more Locke & Key, more Wasteland, more Nick Spencer stuff, etc, etc.  In other words: more comics!

Me too.  I hope they have copies of Bearfight there.  Here's their website: http://www.banneryearpress.com/books.php   The only new thing I see so far is a book about Pecos Bill.

The Morrison Batverse - which is insane because for years I haven't cared for monthly bat books.
    Walking Dead Season Two
what happens next in Secret Avengers
    Scalped, as always
    Wondercon
    THE FURY - Hellboy
Seeing how Hickman closes out Secret Warriors, and then I'll read the entire thing again.

    Thor - The Movie

-This, I am going to make an attempt to go this year.

-Emerald City, I love the con but REALLY am going to try to meet as many 11oclockers as I can. I want to put together something  Thinking Thinking

I can house 5 comfortably in my house (20 minutes from the con) for those that want to go. Or I'm going to get a hotel for the weekend.
