I respect Jason Aaron as a writer but...was he drunk when he wrote this? http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30200I don't think it was an intended swipe at creators or fans. More a swipe at the banal comics being produced by DC and Marvel. Jason Aaron is lucky to have come into the industry at a time when creators are more respected than ever. Discuss...

When you read the whole article I gotta say... Jason Aaron is right. He points a context around his opinion that is hard to argue with. The Tiki

Wow... middle ground. I agree that both Aaron is at Marvel at a time when writers are respected but that said Allan Moore has been a douche of late.
So yeah, ignore this post.

I can see how Aaron would take Moore comments personal but writing him off forever seems drastic.

Totally within Aaron's rights as a consumer. He's got as good a reason as any to stop buying Alan Moore books. I don't see this as anything out of line on either of their parts. They're great writers, let them be eccentric and polarizing.

So... ...do you think that Jason Aaron would be willing to part with his Miracleman issues cheap?

I just wonder why people take it so personal when Alan Moore speaks out about the industry?
I see him as a man of convictions (and no I haven't agreed with everything he's said)and standing up for what he believes in.
I always found that a print Alan Moore interview never comes off in the right tone, but to hear him "speak" in a podcast interview, he comes off as likable and extremely well balanced IMO.
And yes I enjoy Jason Aaron> He's expressed his view well in the article but the "fuck you" seemed childish? Yes? No?...
Anyway opinions, opinions...

I applaud him for speaking out. If he wants to write a rant in response to Alan Moore's rant, great! I personally would love to read a Jason Aaron written Rorschach book. Or better yet, a Comedian book.
Sure Moore thinks those stories should not be touched but he does not need to bash the writers. Should Jerry Siegel bash him for his Superman stories? Siegel didn't.
Does he attack Neil Gaimen for the later Miracleman books?

Because he's had such an important role in shaping generations of creators. This is personal for Aaron, because Moore isn't just some ethereal legend griping about the way things used to be, he's Aaron's inspiration, his hero, his impetus for doing this for a living. It bothers him because it IS personal, to him.

That's a damn shame because you're missing out on the best book on the stands, not to mention some of Marvel's most consistently entertaining output.

It's too bad Matt Wagner or Dwayne McDuffie or Greg Rucka haven't been in the news. With you in this thread and Jason in the Marvel EiC thread, Chris and I are feeling left out.

I think him growing up being such a big fan makes it harder for him not to take Moore's snark a little harder. Aaron is doing a phenomenal job, and his idol just dismissed his life's work without so much as a passing glance. You saying that wouldn't make you cuss a bit?
Of course it's childish, I guess I just can empathize and therefore don't see it as abnormal or a big deal.

This one shouldn't be too hard for people to identify with. Take your personal passion, and then imagine the LEGEND of said passion shitting in an indisputable way about anyone currently undertaking an effort to practice that passion.

I read it more like Aaron calling a spade a spade. I think Alan Moore gets far too much leniency and authority than any man deserves, no matter how much he's done for comics as a medium. Redefining the art form doesn't stop him from being a pretentious douchebag. I'm really happy that Aaron actually stood up for himself against an overwhelming creative authority.
