It feels to me that 8 or 9 issues in that they've already lost the momentum of the first few issues.  I can't tell why but I haven't enjoyed the last 3 issues as much as I did the first couple.

Doesn't that have a lot to do with Secret Invasion messing up their mojo? I can't see how GotG could tie into Dark Reign. Since Kings is just a cosmic story I don't have a problem with it.

As long as I get more Rocket and Groot, I'm happy.

I understand where you're coming from. I haven't enjoyed the book as much lately either and since Pelletier isn't drawing it now and the book is intersecting with another event, I gave it the axe. I decided to spend my money on other comics. Maybe I'll come back to Guardians later...

Yeah, that is a bummer the Pelletier isn't on the book anymore. Especially since, as I mentioned in another thread, the new artist be drawink Cosmo like shit.

Wasn't there two artists on the last issue? One was fine while the other was not as good with the funny Cosmo.
To me the series hasn't let up. Of course they would be involved in the skrulls business and preventing intergalactic wars. More original guardians and the new team been neat. I guess their could have been a bit more rips in the universe fixing but the other stuff has been great important stuff too. I'm definetly avoiding that King breaker mini that's not by DNA though.

Making some tweeks to my pull list:

Add:
- Unknown Soldier (heard lots of good and issue 7 says it's a good jumping on point. and the cover looks boss too)
- Proof
- Garth Ennis' Battlefield series

Drop:
- Buffy (finally)
- Haunted Tank (even though there is only 1 issue left, the first issue I thought was so bad, it doesn't deserve my remaining 3 bucks)

curious to know why Punisher is getting the axe?  I am loving Remender's first arc on the book.

I have added R.E.B.E.L.S and Viking recently and have dropped Secret Six and Dark Avengers (once the first arc is done and Utopia begins)

Issue 6 was 3.99 and not drawn by Opena. I was really never picking it up for the Punisher. I really like Remender. I just have so many books I want to read and I can wait for the trade or not read another Punisher arc.

I'm really close to dropping Thor.  I love it, but it's up to $3.99 now, and the rumor is that the next big event is going to center around this book.  And I'm avoiding events like the plague after all the crappy ones lately. Angry

I've been doing quite a bit of trimming to my pull list lately.

Mighty Avengers
Dark Avengers
Cable
X-Force
X-Men Legacy
Superman
Action Comics

Not that any of these were really terrible books or anything.  They just weren't wowing me.  That's too much cash to spend on books that just hang around in the bottom of my Heroes Corner box until I finally get around to them.  I'd rather spend the money on stuff like the Chew Vol 1 trade, the Head Games hardcover or Sweet Tooth in trade.  I'm not totally giving up on those books though.  If I can find the trades or singles for cheap, I'll snatch them up.  Just not at full price.

Hey, me too! Must be something in the air...  Thinking

Starcraft
Wolverine: Weapon X
Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam
Booster Gold/Blue Beetle
Power Girl
Superman/Batman

And I'm on the fence about a number of others. Granted, most of these have been tryout books, but still...

I hate to say it but Astounding Wolf-Man is on the edge for me, at least as a monthly. I've liked the book since the start but I think Kirkman's writing has slipped on this title and I haven't enjoyed the last few issues very much. I haven't dropped it yet but it's creeping toward the precipice...

I'm thinking about adding Air as a monthly. I bought the first trade and plan to buy the second but I may start picking up the single issues. As always with Vertigo titles, I'm on the fence because I really like their trade program and I prefer reading Vertigo titles that way.  Thinking

It doesn't seem like I think of add/drops the way most collectors do....I just gradually drift away from buying titles, or I get to some unscientific point where I think, "I don't need to buy anymore of these until I read some" and I "drop" it, even though I still like it.  The latter happens to me a lot because I don't like to read most things month to month.  In the last six months or so, these are changes I've made:

Picked up Ghost Rider (Jason Aaron) and Amazing Spider-Man (Joe Kelly, Dave A. and Matt H.O.W.L.)

Picked up Batman & Robin and Detective Comics.  Then promptly dropped them.  I didn't hate them by any means, but superhero books have got to really wow me to keep me going, and they didn't.

I tried a couple of Incredible Hercules but wasn't blown away.  I might not continue, which means not continuing with Agents of Atlas either.  I'm still on the fence and I'll probably give it a issue or two more.

Started reading Irredemable, loved it, and now I buy it monthly.

"Dropped" Echo and Sword, or at least order them erratically, because of that aforementioned "not reading the ones I have" thing.

Dropped House of Mystery and DMZ.  Never really have bought Fables regularly, not since the first dozen issues or so, but I went on a big Fables kick a few months ago, buying and reading several trades worth.  After which I didn't want to read anymore, so in a way I dropped it.  I'm pretty close to dropping Northlanders also.  Read the first Madame Xanadu trade, but continuing is a low, bargain priced kind of priority.

I've added innumerable new series as they come out, which I don't consider add/drop decisions, just the normal course of reading what I like as it comes out.

Yeah, I think there was an announcement late this summer that it's ending at issue #24...I think.

Thanks, that does impact my decision. If it's ending that soon, I'll stick with it and complete the story.

EDIT: I did a little searching and found more info about Astounding Wolf-Man ending. It's in this article, which may contain spoilers about a other Kirkman books (I just read the Astounding Wolf-Man info so I'm not sure):

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=22212\

It looks like #25 will be the last issue of Astounding Wolf-Man.

I thought this was cool news:

Quote
Even when "Wolf-Man" is done, Kirkman's partnership with artist Jason Howard is far from over. They're a while away from announcing their next project, though the tone sounds markedly different from what "Wolf-Man" fans might expect. "Jason and I have young children, which is one of the many things we have in common," Kirkman teased. "Working on 'Wolf-Man' has been a lot of fun, but my son is three and I have a four-month-old daughter. It's getting to the point where it'd be nice if I had one, single book that they could read! The thing that Jason and I are going to work on will be kid-appropriate, though not necessarily exclusively for kids. It'll be fun trying to strike that balance on a series so that it appeals to everyone but also be appropriate for children. I think comics need more of that."

I couldn't agree more and I'll be looking forward to that project!

I used to be a trade waiter but now I've switched to monthlys on a few comics because the wait is to long, so all the comics I'll list are adds...

The Boys
Scalped
Invincible
Amazing Spider Man
Detective Comics
Sweet Tooth
Greek Street (Might drop it if it can't get my attention)
DMZ
Kick-Ass
Ex Machina (On it's final story arc)  Cry
