It's good to hear Pat's enthusiam again!  But how can you so completely dismiss Capwolf after moments prior saying it doesn't get any better than Pet Avengers? .....(and didn't you like Franken-Castle?...this is similar, zany, silver-age comics, though admittedly no where near as good as Franken-Castle) Now, sure, Capwolf was a bit silly, and was clearly cashing in on the at-the-time line-wide sales boosting gimmick of guest apprearances by members of the X-cast, Spidey, The Punisher or Ghost Rider (Walt Simonson & Art Adams' 3 'new FF' issues was a contemporary joke about this phenomenon). Enthusiasm for Cap's title had dwindled after a successful, somewhat popular run by Gruenwald and Ron Lim, and we were now a few arcs into Rick Levins' follow-up. Cap's title was just coming off its Operation: Galactic Storm chapters, which was pretty heavy stuff, and the Capwolf story was room to breathe before getting back into the Skull, Crossbones, Diamondback, etc. subplots. And, it was kinda cool, as Cap didn't become Capwolf until the 3rd act, and along the way you had John Jameson/Man-Wolf stuff, which I've always dug since having the power records Spidey/Man-Wolf 45rpm and book as a kiddo. I don't know when I'm going to find the time to listen this but it sounds great and I look forward to Raker's Dozen with my favourites the Thunderbolts and awesome Cap issues.

Anyone else a fan of Streets of Poison?
I enjoyed that whole Gru/Lim run, including Streets of Poison, which was a similar bi-weekly popcorn-flick, guest stars galore. ....and I, too, really enjoyed Diamondback as Cap's hot, damaged love interest. It was nice (and is nice again during Brubaker's run) for Cap to have a regular supporting cast and subplots/backstories going on. That's the other thing about the Search for John Jameson arc that became forever known as Capwolf....it was a bi-weekly arc, so it came and went fast....it's not like this was the direction of the title for a half-a-year or something. |

In a time when I would read almost anything Marvel put out, me and my friends stayed far, far away from Cap Wolf. The Cap issues with Man Wolf and company were really great. I miss Diamondback being in Captain America.
Anyone else a fan of Streets of Poison?
Is in that in trade? Or was it in trade? I might have it hanging around in my pile of musty paper that goes up to the ceiling that I call the regina pile for single issues. |

Don't get me wrong, Cap Wolf was hokey-as-can-be.....I just mean to point out that it's not too far off of the same vein as Pet Avengers or Franken-Castle or any number of silver age DC books....just silly comics, but, in this case, hardly horrible comics. But for what it's worth, I didn't order the trade. |

Hold the horses, Dave....I did enjoy reading New Avengers #7 to some extent....like I said, I enjoy the character moments and am invested in Bendis' take on them.....I was reading the issue and chugging along and then when it was over, I thought: 'that's it?'....no customary action scene? No bad guy? No conflict being resolved or triumph to be had? ...for $4? I paged back through and looked at the structure of the book, and had to cry 'foul'! Bendis speaks of the pressure of providing enough bang for the buck as he knows his books are the expensive ones, but here I think he was either illustrating the absurdity of his critics by absurdly giving them exactly what they complain about, or it shoulda been a $3 book, or a .1 book, or skip the 'oral history' crap and give us extra pages of story so you can sneak in some action.....it's heroic fiction after all, not just folks who wear their underwear on the outside! |

Well, you can look on the bright side and call this issue a "done in one"...I'd like to think we would see more of them then dragging things out for six issues and totally forgetting what the hell happened in the first issue of the arc (which happens to me more than I'd like to admit!)...

Steve, I'll be sending you the dry cleaning bill for the regurge'd lunch in my lap after hearing the details of your thumb. And still I don't understand what happened. Scissors? How ... wha ...? I was sitting across from a cool little boy with autism that I work with, and was holding a strand/rope of dense therapy putty for him to snip the end off of (to make those cutting muscles and motion strong with practice against resistance). We had a rhythm going, where I'd pull out the next nub/strand for him to cut off, and then he'd snip, (rinse/repeat)....until he double-snipped on a delay and caught the back of 3 fingers (the index one pretty significantly) and the other blade in the thumb.....he was facing me, so cutting towards me, and the scissors were brand new and apparently quite sharp. Super glue did the trick on both the bleeder and and the thumb-pad flap! I think I might have required a stitch or two otherwise on the index finger! |

Well, you can look on the bright side and call this issue a "done in one"...I'd like to think we would see more of them then dragging things out for six issues and totally forgetting what the hell happened in the first issue of the arc (which happens to me more than I'd like to admit!)... Nice! It'll read good in a trade.....a 'quiet chapter', y'know? I still think they coulda just skipped the filler material and had Spidey or Mockingbird late to dinner because they encountered Whirlwind en route, or somethin', just so someone could toss around a few garbage cans for a few panels. |

Oh! I somehow thought there was some kind of adaptive equipment that did you the actual damage. Krazy Glue isn't toxic at all to open wounds? And also  And also  |
