Lex can be in there...but I want Brainiac to represent THE threat of the flick, to be the center-stage villain, in at least one Superman flick in my lifetime. Pretty please? The film makers could even reprise Lex's behavior near the end of Donner's Superman II and have Lex almost buddy-buddying with Big Blue, perhaps teaming up a little to stop Brainiac. I don't care, I just want Brainiac in Big-Bad form causing havoc, the skull-ship, etc.

My rabid-ness re: big-screen Brainiac may be due to my slightly greater love for "Man of Tomorrow" Superman jazz rather than Olsen's Best Friend Super-stuff. The newsroom scenes in the first Donner Superman are my favorite of the latter...the World of New Krypton mini from a couple years back got me excited about the former, as did the Brainiac shenanigans in The Dark Knight Strikes Again (yeah, I liked it a little more than most, though the art was hard to take here and there) and Johns' Superman: Braniac.

My thoughts from this week's Wayback Wednesday:

If they want to think big, use Luthor as the brains.  Make him the chess master pitting the bad guys like Parasite, Doomsday, Mongul (tie it into Green Lantern, maybe?), Metallo, etc. against the blue boy scout.

Sorta like Mandarin in Iron Man.  But you'd actually see Luthor because of his public image.

Well if Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan have faith he will deliver as Superman then we will see until the first trailer comes out.

I mean I felt "ify" for Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and now I think he was a good choice.

And then came the voice.  Huh?

Just read on IGN that Viggo Mortensen is in consideration to play Zod.  That sounds like some pretty kick ass casting.  He was a magnificent "villain" in GI Jane.

Anybody wonder that they are giving false information and that rumors of Ursa and Zod are false.

Just give me a new villain for Superman to fight that isnt Lex Luthor please.

Also no subplots involving land deals/schemes,supercomputers going out of countrol, Nuclear Man or the selling of the Daily Planet.

Plus make damn sure that the actor playing Superman has a believable American accent.   With the Lois Lane actress looking age appropriate for the role unlike Superman Returns.

Thanks in advance.

Matthew (Superman The Movie & Superman II The Donner cut was awesome!)

Meloni can play a wide range of characters.  It will be interesting to see which of the two speculated roles he ends up with.  The two roles couldn't be more different and I don't think I would mind him in either.

I read somewhere that he said he was playing a general. Lois' dad perhaps?

EDIT: Ooops, it says that on the article as well, about him playing a general although not necessarily Lois' dad. Perhaps General Thunderbolt Ross?

Man Of Steel Moves To June 2013

Just as Comic-Con International kicks off, Warner Bros. has dropped the Krypton-sized bomb that Zack Sndyer’s Man of Steel will open on June 14, 2013, rather than in December 2012 as widely believed.

. . .

However, the official date also may lend credence to five-month-old rumors that David S. Goyer’s script has “major third-act problems,” and an unverified report from over the weekend that first Jonathan Nolan and now Snyder’s 300 collaborator Kurt Johnstad have taken stabs at rewrites.

Man of Steel is confirmed to star Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Michael Shannon as General Zod. The cast is also said to include Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Julia Ormond as Lara and Antje Traue as Zod’s henchwoman Faora. Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix will play generals.

. . .

Update: The New York Times offers additional insight, noting that Warner Bros. had initially considered giving Man of Steel the Dec. 12, 2012, relate date that eventually went to The Hobbit. “The problem: those internal ruminations were accidentally made public back in January when it announced the casting of Henry Cavill as Superman. The upshot: Warner had some wiggle room because of The Hobbit — it doesn’t need two enormous movies in one month — and so the unofficial release plan for Man of Steel was changed and it now gets a prime spot in the lucrative summer season.”

Source.

Does this have anything to do with the court case?  I thought WB HAD to put out the movie before 2013 or they would lose film rights or something to that effect.

And "third act problems?"  Apparently, writing a decent Superman movie is an impossible task?  Baffling.

Seems most of us have a pretty good idea on how to do it...

Something new for the slack-jawed to complain about. Maybe this will take some of the heat off Ultimate Spider Man.
