I listen to all of them. I find that I usually end up liking the one's where I've never heard of the person or dislike the person just as much/or more then the people I really like. I agree the Maron monologue is not the high point of the show but after listening to about 200 of his shows I've only had one I didn't care for.

Which one? I think I've probably listened to them all as well, I'll usually circle back and check out someone I thought I wouldn't want to listen to when my podcast que is running low.

Maron isn't the sort of person I would want to hang with. His neuroses are insufferable, at the same time make him seem very down to earth, which I like. But I enjoy the interviews he does, for the most part. The one glaring exception from the past month or two is the Russell Brand interview.

There were two recent ones that drove me bonkers. The husband and wife one was TERRIBLE and the recent whiny dude that was on Seinfeld was insufferable.

The Steve Bryne one. I liked the end where he mentioned the Dane Cook stuff but the whole first half where he's ranting about how bad white men have it in America was ridiculous.

I tend to prefer the live episodes where there's a panel of folks. The 1-on-1 interviews are hit or miss for me...

I think I passed on that one, and listened to the one with the nervous guy that used to be on Sienfeld and other sitcoms... it had it's moments I guess. One of the more recent eps I expected to hate and actually enjoyed was with Russel Brand. I really want to hate that guy, but over time he has wittled me down and I enjoy hearing his ideas when he isn't doing his shitck on stage.

Was just coming in here to talk about this episode. Maron has a talent for making me, begrudgingly, not dislike celebs I really want to dislike. Was the same with the Dane Cook episode, as well. I think that's what makes him an amazing interviewer. He freaking humanizes everyone.

Been giving this the ol' college try, and while I enjoy some of his interviews, I have realized that it's almost 100% because of the guest in question. When he's talking to a guest I don't particularly care for, I really struggle with listening to Maron. I would say I've genuinely enjoyed 10% of the shows I've listened to of his...if I'm being completely honest, his monologue usually bores me to tears. really ? Maron is the best interviewer in podcasting, period. Dude can sit down with anybody and have a meaningful conversation. honestly, who does a better job than him ? He manages to make pretty much anybody interesting, and isn't afraid to get personal and ask things nobody else would while still being respectable. There's nothing else in podcasting that is anywhere close to being a "must listen to" show as this one is. I have listened to every episode and only ever really had an issue with 2 of them (Ep. 240 with the husband and wife didn't work and i still haven't finished it and the Nick Thune interview was painful but still kind of interesting).

Todays episode with Paul Fieg, creator/director of Freaks and Geeks and Bridesmaids, is the guest and was one of the more memorable ones.

At least go back and check out the Bryan Cranston episode, that is one of my favorites of all time.
I've listened to every episode of WTF... except this one. I've held off on it until I get caught up with Breaking Bad. I'm almost done with Season 3. Should I wait until I'm caught up with Season 4 to avoid spoilers?

It's gotten a bit away from this, since Maron has recieved so much positive feedback & it's more of a profession for him now, but I've always enjoyed listening to the cast from the standpoint of it being therapy for him. I like the monologues, in that he's usually trying to work through something, for himself. I don't always agree with him on things, but he often exposes me to opinions I wouldn't normally be exposed to. I appreciate that. On the interview side, I liked the tone of some of the earlier ones where he was trying to reconnect with people he'd wronged in the past. The Louis CK one is a standout, there.
I understand he can't be everyone's cup o' tea, but I often find that interviews are very clinical. That the questions are always the same & that certain topics are avoided, for fear that they might alienate the guest and scare off guests of similar stature. Maron appears to never kiss ass or shy away from topics. Being a self-employed podcaster with clout allows him to do that. I really dig that high-profile people COME to Maron, feeling like that they have to go through his process.

when you guys have Chris Rock on we'll see, until then you are just a very enjoyable podcast Ha! Just so you know, I told Rock he couldn't come on because it seems every time we have a guest on, people don't vibe with the show as much. In all seriousness, Maron clearly has some mojo. I'm in the minority in terms of not viewing his show as one of the very best. Like I said, I dig some of the interviews he's done, but more than 50% of them are snoozers -- for me. But to be honest, I'm not much of a biography/interview type of guy, never have been. I don't read many biographies, rarely watch biographical movies/shows, don't like gigs like Inside the Actors Studio, etc...

He's sensitive to his guests but he isn't above throwing sarcastic little daggers at his guests. You can oftern virtually hear his shit-eating grin when he is throwing these daggers.
