Just saw Drive-By Truckers last weekend at the Vic. Needless to say, they rocked. Coming up I have: Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour 3/15 Lincoln Hall Godspeed You! Black Emperor 3/28 The Vic The Flaming Lips 7/8 The Aragon All I have planned in the next few months is the mighty beast known as Mogwai
I really want to see them, but I'm not sure if I can. It's a toss up between Mogwai and Sebadoh. I'm having a hell of a time deciding.

I decided to check out a band my friend manages tonight:
The Lost Patrol at The Loop Lounge (Passaic Park, NJ)
Recommended if you like Lush/The Cocteau Twins/The Sundays (but with guitar licks from The Ventures.)

I'm a bit of a beatnik and last night at my cities local poetry session they had band members from Vancouver band The Fugitives headline doing a few songs and poems. The songs were great, as were the poems by Brendan McLeod were fantastic (the guy won the Canada Poetry Slam Championships, and placed 2nd in the 2005 World Poetry Slam Championships). Definitely worth checking out

I am one lucky ticket dude today. Started the day off with my buddy setting me up with comps for The Duke Special show in Philly this Sunday. Then later on scored tickets to two initmate gigs - DCFC at The Trocadero and Elvis Costello on April Fool's Day in NYC.
(Hope this keeps up and my contact for LCD Soundsystem comes through!)

Next "concert" I'm going to (or at least that I have tickets for) is "Batman Live" in July(with my son), which is premiering in Manchester. Here's hoping it's not "Turn Out The Dark 2".

I just picked up tickets to see Beirut at McCarren Pool on June 17th I've missed out both times he has played in Philadelphia so I am really excited to finally see him. Then later on scored tickets to two initmate gigs - DCFC at The Trocadero and Elvis Costello on April Fool's Day in NYC.
Congrats! The Troc is a great venue and super small for a band that has played arenas.

I love The Troc - I know I'm very spoiled in regards to being equidistant between NYC and Philly in having these options but very often I'll opt for a band's date there over an NYC venue like Terminal 5. (Hate Terminal 5!) Even at sold out shows at The Troc, I've never felt it overcrowded. And the sound there is usually great.

I love me some Lanagan. The QOTSA were best with him on vocals. All I have tix for right now are Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky.

Here in Wilmington, NC, we've got a progressively rootsy vibe going for the next several months: April 8: The Avett Brothers -- it'll be my second time seeing them, and my wife's fifth; she'd follow them on tour if she could. May 25th: Old Crow Medicine Show August 14: Bela Fleck and the FlecktonesAnd we're going to Manchester, TN this June for our fourth Bonnaroo festival. We do all right for a coupla old farts.
