I don't see a whole lot of big name bands, but I get out to a fair amount of local shows and get to play some decent ones. I'll start adding to the thread; just smack me if it gets obnoxious.

Tonight there is a Anti-Union-Busting benefit show at the Comet. My roommate is playing that one.

On Monday we get to play with a band from San Francisco called Tartufi. I was surprised to find out they are a duo because the sound is so lush. Lots of looping, I guess, which can be difficult to pull off right. Anyone who's interested in some indie rock with prog overtones would to well to check them out. Monday April 4th at the Funhouse in Seattle.

Lightning Bolt at the Healthy Times Fun Club on 4/9!  Rock Horns  Jam Band

Awesome. I will be there too. I bought ticket #150 off of the bottom of the stack over at Hollow Earth Radio.
My band is playing at Healthy times the following weekend and I want to get a big promo poster put up before the Lightning Bolt show so I gets lots of eyes on it.

in the next month or so.  These are all in North Carolina.

Helmet
Screeching Weasel
Tim Barry

One of my friends was going to see Screeching Weasel here in San Antone, but they had to cancel because the singer punched a couple of girls in Austin and went to jail... Meanwhile I was in New Orleans for a show that got cancelled.. the universe laughed at us

as Joe Queer sang "Ben Weasel is an asshole"

Yeah, this is a terrible incident that has taken the punk community by storm over the last week or so.  Ben's entire band has quit on him, and Weasel Fest (mini fest in Chicago featuring tons of Ramones/SW insipired bands) has been cancelled.  All rightfully so.

This is a great example of whether or not we let an artist's personal life and choices influence how we feel about their work.  I'll still listen to SW for the rest of my life, but had already began trying to sell my ticket even before the show was cancelled.

@Fnord Serious: very cool! I will see ya at the like-sweaty LB gig...I will also look your band up and see if I can get out to catch ya sometime! My schedule's getting weird these days...training a puppy and gearing up for our first child this summer, re-budgeting our lives, etc. In the midst of all this I am reminded (by my wife, usually) that I need to keep live music in my life, even if I'm not playing it these days. In elder-days I played for a couple, RST and Sun Vow...

I dropped the ball & missed the Anti-Union Busting Comet gig...hope that was a good one!

Wow!  If you were in the RST line-up at the time, I would have seen you open for Built to Spill in Seattle, sometime in 1997.

Hearts That was at the pre-remodel Crocodile Cafe, eh? We opened for 'em that night...our lead singer/guitarist was playing bass for BTS at the time. We drove with 'em up to Vancouver BC for a Starfish Room gig the following night...really nice crowd at the Starfish as I recall. I had fun in those days...I do wish I'd been less of a boozer then; I might've enjoyed it more. But, no regrets!

We got to open for Fugazi in Springfield, OR a couple years later...I was in the middle of quitting cigs at the time, I was a total nervous mess. The gig went well though...

I'll be running around forcing flyers on people Tongue

Opening up for Fugazi is an amazing experience to have had, I can imagine. That's about the pinnacle I can ever imagine for my musical career, getting to open for bands that I respect and admire.

I didn't run into Fnord unfortunately...I did discover that I have a few headbanging muscles left at pushing-38; I was more fit for this kind of social dancing at 21, heh heh:

Even though it's just Steve Ignorant, it would still be cool to hear a few Crass tracks from him live.  But just a few Wink  Cock Sparrer on the other hand would be a sick ass show.  We were listening to them while grilling out tonight.  I've never gotten to see them.  The Dwarves are ALWAYS a good show.  Mayhem, drunken debauchery, blood, piss and chaos.  You never know what you're going to get.

Strike Anywhere is playing a tiny little club that might as well be a house show here in N.C. in May.  That's about the only thing that I've got lined up right now.

we all snap.. granted i myself would never hit a woman. i saw the video. it was in the heat of the moment and she jumped in trying to save the day since her bf or whoever got popped so she got popped as well. im sure he didnt  intentionally mean to  kick her ass she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time..  love the wesel.  didnt know all this happend because of that. kinda glad i was able to see um before all this then.. sucks.. weve waited so long for thier return and they left just as quick as they came back. Sad

and yea man! super pumped for  sparrer and dwarves.. ESPECIALLY leftover crack as well!. such a great line up..
and crass is crass.. i just hope steve does the band justice and puts on a great show!

If you do end up going, enjoy! The Brooklyn date doesn't work for me and I'm on vacation when the rescheduled date in Manhattan happens; otherwise I'd be all over this.

Man, I want to see Slayer/Zombie/Exodus! I missed my chance to see Sepultura...

So, my local state fair is featuring a few bands this year namely...

GODDAMN SKID ROW, WARRENT AND DOKKEN!.

Also, Charlie Daniels Band, and -maybe- I'll see Saving Abel.

This was a sad turn of events. However ALL parties involved were in the wrong. Ben shouldn't have played the gig in the first place, turning up to piss and moan about it isn't doing anyone any favours. The girl acted like a massive douche, but it's the security that should have thrown her out on her ass as soon as she started hurling stuff at the stage. It's up to them to ensure stuff doesn't get out of hand, and they failed.

After seeing a whole bunch of shows last summer, this year the only concert we have tickets for is to see the 'Flaming Lips' at the local casino here.  Should be fun, I've always heard great things about that band live.
