Im only 12 issues away from being done!

I loved when Thor goes to Hel to rescue the human souls, thats story with the Exicutionar is great. There was one panel that left me wondering though. Issue #361, page 584 in the Omnibus panel 4. Clearly theres an X-men sneakign around .... who and whats up with that?

Travis

I just got to the part where Surtur faces Odin, the Rainbow bridge has been smashed, and the battle is raging on Earth.
Amazing stuff!  Every aspect of it is brilliant.  I can only imagine how awesome it would have been to have been reading this storyline as it was coming out month to month.  The anticipation would have been killer.

 Thumbs Up

That's exactly what happened with me. I got the coupon in my inbox and that book was the first thing I thought of.

Done  Cheesy

Finished up today. What a remarkable run on the series. There were a few slow points toward the end which suffered from crossovers with X-Factor and a Maphisto mini series but great main story and a wonderful rich cast of supporting characters. I feel like I know more about Asgard and the Asgardians than I ever have. Well worth the price and time it took to read.

I've never read any of Simonson's work before, never really read any solo Thor stories either... but I ordered this based purely on the love the board and the podcast has been giving this.

Really excited to experience something I know nothing about AT ALL (bar seeing the recent Thor film).

Anything I need to know going into this? Either story points, or stuff to do with the context it has in Marvel and Simonson's career arcs? (Sorry about the odd phrasing but hopefully you'll know what I'm getting at!

BIGGEST BOOK I OWN FOR SURE!!!!

Anything I need to know going into this?

Take it one page at a time.

Folks may tell you what to keep an eye out for or what else was going on in other books at the time, but why would you have your experience affected by theirs?

Enjoy it on your own first.

Thanks guys, that's kinda what I was hoping to hear - was a bit worried that if something crossover related (like the gene bomb in Morrison's Doom Patrol, or the Invasion stuff in Animal Man) was very heavy and near the start (like in those two aforementioned examples) I would have zero idea of what was going on!

I'll get reading, and let you all know what I think (will be a while though - it's HUGE!!!) - either way, thanks for turning me onto this, EoC dudes!

I got mine a couple of months back, boy; so glad I did ... it's tremendous. I was going to go for the IDW version of it, after seeing it at the Birmingham, U.K. Comicon, but decided not to for the reasons that Jason remarked on several posts back.

Oh, and I checked for the duplicate pages, and glad to report; mine's fine Yes

I got mine in July but I haven't read more than a handful of pages. I need to set aside some time for it.

Okay I just finished this after being on my reading list for quite a few months. Damn it was so good.

I wish comics were this filled with text and thought bubbles and explanation and everything these days.

Now I need to find another omnibus for my Sunday morning tea-on-the-patio reading sessions

I'm about a third of the way through.  The story with the last viking is so, so, so good.  A real masterpiece of a two, maybe three issue arc that both stands on it's own and fits in with the bigger stuff.  It is amazing how well balanced between different story threads it feels.  There is a LOT going on but I never feel like my time or the character's time is being wasted.

Is there a specific reason Balder is all gloomy and depressed?  Just wondering.
