i've heard a fair amount of people say they weren't into stevenson's volstagg, but i didn't really have a problem with it. if he was done super fat and super jolly he would've drawn too much attention from what was going on i think. he would've stolen the show if they played him up like they do in the comic.

I saw the IMAX 3D and it was fantastic. I loved everything about the movie. Sif almost stole the movie. Thor was so great and funny. Kirby would be proud!

I freaking LOVED this movie!!!
Ironically, I read some reviews in which reviewers suggested that this film was not very original or interesting... WHAT!!! This was the most wildly ambitious/epic movie based on a comic book superhero since this entire superhero film explosion of the last decade or so.
Yes, for some people the space epic insanity will simply be too much to swallow, I get that. But damn if this movie didn't have a feel and tone which was utterly unique. The acting was quite good throughout (Hiemdall was actually particularly awesome so those assholes will have to shut up about the casting) and the humor fit in nicely—indeed, I laughed pretty hard multiple times.
But most strikingly (no pun intended): the action was just plain bad-ass. The Thor in this film is most definitely the GOD of Thunder and the action scenes involving him have the epic feel from the very best of Thor comics.
5/5 stars from me! Fans of Simonson's vision of Asgard and the Asgardians will be particularly pleased!

I saw it in IMAX 3D and loved it. The real award should go to the casting director of the movie. Each character fit their role and played their part. The JMS story is evident and has some of the feel of his early reboot a year or two ago. I am really anxious to see how they use Thor in the Avengers movie and if he will get a cameo in the Captain America movie, (though I doubt it more likely Iron Man). I thought the hints at the Marvel universe were great, but not so much that you could not enjoy the ride that the director was taking you on. I would totally watch a Ray Stevenson led Warriors Three movie with Sif. I know I will never see it, but I really loved those characters. Easily in my top 3 Marvel movies and makes more excited to see The Avengers and Captain America later this summer.
I also appreciated the thanks to Stan, Jack, Sal, and the Simonsons. Without them this movie really does not get made.

i enjoyed it, probably not something i'd watch again but there are worse ways to spend 2 hours.
The best of the Marvel Studios movies so far (haven't really enjoyed any of them so far), and i think the only one of these movies where the in-jokey comics stuff actually worked. I still don't think it was a great film but it was fun enough i guess.
also worst after credits sequence of maybe any movie, totally was not worth the wait. whole audience i think gave a collective "that's it ???" .

I let out an "oh shit" when he opened it. Same as with the first Iron Man movie, the after credits scene was icing on the cake. Possible spoilers for the Avengers movie in case you haven't been keeping up with the news...

I imagine we'll get a scene with the Cosmic Cube or the Infinity Gauntlet? That would be dope. Would tie in very nicely with Cap and Avengers.
CANNOT WAIT! But I will have to wait. Until next weekend. Can't get in the way of Mother's Day, yo.

I saw the movie today and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it great but it's a lot of fun and they really got Thor right. I think Chris Hemsworth knocks the role out of the park. The movie has a good sense of humor, which I feel is essential in a superhero film. There are some cool effects, some romance, some "in" jokes, references to other Marvel characters and some good performances. Indris Elba is definitely memorable as Heimdall and Tom Hiddleston plays Loki with complexity. He doesn't just portray him as evil. He's sly, conflicted, devious... it's a good performance. Asgard is highly stylized, which was a wise move, and there's plenty of cool superhero stuff along with some good character moments. The Destroyer was pretty awesome. Regarding the "after credits" scene: it's clearly for comic book fans familiar with the Marvel universe. It won't mean much to anybody else. Jim

Very awesome movie. I thought the movie channeled Kirby pretty good. And a cool appearance by an Avenger. Lot of comic references galore. I really enjoyed it and I'll go back again for another watching. I give 5 out 5 stars. And Sif gave me a "stiff" I'll tell you what.

A great bit of casting all around and a fine job by Mr. Brannagh. I was very happy with this flick all around.
I saw Colm Feore's name in the credits and couldn't figure out who he was (he a local in these parts and a semi-regular at the Stratford Festival). Turns out he played Ymir - and did so well.
