I just finished reading the Giant Size Atom special by Jeff Lemire and I have to say I'm more than a little bummed that the series is over.  I was really enjoying the series both in story and art (I thought Mahmud Asrar was doing a really good job).  I thought the ideas that Jeff put into the story had a lot of potential for future stories, ideas like the colony and his characterization of The Atom as a cerebral type of hero were really entertaining.  For those of you who read the Giant Size Special I also really enjoyed Asimov.  This is a robot that Jeff introduces, and in just a few panels in my opinion manages to really make you feel for him.  He made him into a character who seems very interesting and full of potential.
Not only that but I was actually expecting the issue to finish with one of those look for more Atom adventures coming soon type of things and so when I got to the last page and there was no sign of Atom stories coming back it was a bummer.
So I figured I would come on the forum and give both The Atom and Lemire a little love.  Anybody else enjoy the series?

yeah, i really liked it as well.  i wish he was writing that as an ongoing instead of superboy.  the story seemed more concise and focused, and the art was light years better.

I really liked the Atom story he wrote. Hopefully we will get more someday in one form or another.

Having barely read anything containing The Atom I was pleasantly pleased by how easy it was to follow the story and understand the character. I would definitely read more of Lemire's The Atom.

Yeah, Superboy just really isn't my cup of tea.  I know a lot of people are enjoying it, but I just can't seem to get into it.

I had read a little bit of Atom in things like Justice League and the Countdown stuff, but other then that my experience had been very minimal.  I actually had more knowledge of Ryan Choi having read that whole Atom series.  I thought the same thing, I was glad I could get right into the story with no problem.

I enjoyed Lemire's Atom in the backups & the giant size one shot.  I gave it a 4 stars out of 5 stars overall.  I REALLYenjoyed the Manhunter backups as well from Streets of Gotham (damn that book was awesome!) a 5 star book all the way.

My only regret is that DC doesn't do the Dark Horse Presents method add 4-6 story lines into 1 book at a 7 to 8 dollar price tag of B & C list characters once a month.  The storylines would have a end & replace them with new storylines after a set time in the series.  Not the Countdown to shit or broken Trinity method (aka NOT Matt Wagner).

I would totally be on board if DC did something like this. I think that Brave and the Bold can be a title that fills this need. Team-ups, small 2-3 issue arcs about those B & C list characters with revolving creators.  It would give somebody like Lemire a place to tell his story without having to piggy back on Adventure Comics.  I stopped buying Adventure Comics once the back-up feature was gone.

Such an awesome arc.  This didn't get a fair shake.  It started with a Brightest Day 1-shot, which I guess could have gotten more readers but, with the exception of one reference in dialog, there is no reason for the banner.  These back-ups were very effective.  Lemire boiled it all down to a fun, short story and never compromised the character development.  Plus, Palmer's uncle turned out to be one of my favorite new characters of 2010.  I love "Superboy" too, and I think if any of you are Lemire fans but couldn't get excited about this because Connor is definitely less than a cool character, try it again.  He has found so many ways to let his writing style grow out from the cracks.  It is solid, even the weird Doomsday tie-in couldn't hold back the goodness.  But yeah, I would love for the Atom to come back in some way, and you guys' ideas about a DC Presents anthology of ongoing backups would warm this heart o' mine.

i enjoyed also, just don't think the Atom can hold his own on going title. no matter who writes it. maybe they should just do some one shots a few times a year.
