He's gone. I miss him so bad, but feel relieved in a way. It was the strangest thing seeing him breathe those last breaths and holding his hand.

It hurts, but he's not in pain anymore.

I was honored that you felt comfortable enough in our community to share this ordeal so openly and honestly, and have been thinking about you ever since. It's impossible to put myself in your shoes Sampsa, but I can definitely say that I hope your brother is in a better place and that the pain of the loss is eventually overtaken by the relief that he's no longer suffering.

Keep your head up, and we're always here when you want to talk, vent or escape.

Hang in there, pal. Having lost a disabled younger sister in her 20's, I can tell you that time doesn't heal the wound but distractions and having your own kids do...a constant reminder that life goes on and we adapt to handle it.

Best to your family, sorry for your awful loss.

I'm really sorry for your loss Sampsa. I've lost people but no one as close as a brother so I don't know how you feel. I know it sounds cheesy but I do feel that the people who've left us, they're not really gone as long as we remember them. They're somewhere else now but part of them still remains within the pictures/videos that we've taken of them, the memories of them that seem to come to surface every now and again, the stories that we continue to tell about them, etc. It hurts to not have them around but I would rather remember them and feel that pain than not remember them at all.

Like I said on twitter, we love you and take care. Don't ever feel shy about bringing him up in conversations here or elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that your brother has passed, Sampsa.  I think your constant strength, love and support made his final days a great deal more bearable, and he knew how much you cared about him.
