I've started some herb seeds for the last three years, but never planted them.  This year, I think I'm going to hit the greenhouse and pick up some plants and go that route.

So I should hopefully have some pics up after this weekend, but we decided to try Cilantro and some Leaf Lettuce for our balcony garden, we will see how it goes. We figure if the milk jug auto-watering containers don't work we will buy some planting pots from Wal-Mart, ones that were the size we are looking for should only cost about a fiver.

So far so good.

Tomato plants from seed.

Romain Lettuce.

They ain't much to look at but the bell pepper plants made it through the winter.

My first try at vertical gardening.  Snow peas.

If only everything grew as easily as Basil...

haven't started gardening yet this year, and i'm not sure we'll get to it.  there's some landscaping to do in our new yard and i want to build a raised bed, and with the wife working 2 jobs i'm not sure we'll get to actually get stuff in the ground in time this year.  it's too bad, but hopefully that means that next year we'll be able to get set and going right on time.

I think this is a pretty good idea…old gutters used for beds when lacking space…not only that, but the water run off dribbling down to water the plants beneath is a pretty bang up idea as well.

I am continuing my Urban Garden/ Vertical Garden experiment.  I gotta say, I am blown away with the lettuce crop.  I love making a sandwich or salad and just walking outside my front door for the lettuce!

Here are some new pics.

Herbs, tomato and bell pepper starts.

Tomatoes, Bell Peppers, Jalapenos and Lettuce.

Peas from the vertical garden.

More tomatoes.

The newest expansion.  Blackberries and a new block wall.

So how are the rest of you doing with your experiments and trials?

Gardening question:

So my Wife's vegetable garden is going to grow from a 5'X5' size to a 6'X12' garden this year (she is super Giddy).  I am going to plant a TON of flowers near that garden in hopes of luring bees to pollinate My Wife's  veggie plants.

Any suggestion as to what flowers I can use as bait?

Thanks.

I started my first garden this year.  I'm having a lot of success with tomatoes, but not much else.  I'm chalking it up to a learning experience, and get ready for the fall.
