It costs $12 to send 2 comic book sized portfolios and a few lithos less that 100 miles?
I guess I'll pass, bummer.

You would be surprised how much good packaging costs and that's before shipping. I see it at work, and can't believe it.

I assume you're talking about the Parker portfolios that were announced today: http://idwlimited.com/comics/collector-sets/richard-stark-s-parker-portfolio-collection-set.htmlI got both of those portfolios from my LCS (they're both comic book sized) & I picked up one of the lithos at a con, it's pretty small too. They're nice, but $35 seems kind of excessive, I'd think that would be more worth it if they were at least autographed. $12 seems a bit much for shipping on something as big as I know that set is.

Yeah, I am referring to the Parker stuff.
I am just so into the Parker OGNs and I thought $35 might be a little much but these books are the coolest things ever so what the heck. Then I went through the checkout process.
At $35 I was willing to go for it, but just barely, at $50, no thanks.

Nate,
I had a thought about making something like the TMNT Limited Collection even more appealing to someone like myself who loves the nice collected editions. The oversized hardcover collecting the first 4 issues has been out for some time now, and I personally am picking up the series in single issues and am waiting for the entire first year (12 issues) to be collected in an oversized hardcover. If IDW Limited were to bundle a product such as this with the Limited Collection in advance of the product being available through comic shops, amazon, etc., I think this would add to the appeal.
If someone is a big enough fan of TMNT and IDW, the chances they have the regular HC is fairly good, and although these are limited, it is still duplicative. The marginal benefit of including a book that isn't otherwise avaialble in any form might just entice people to buy the Red Label. Just a thought.
Looking forward to getting the package on 10/31.

We're looking at shipping options. The problem is, most of this stuff can't be replaced. So offering a cheap, but unreliable mailing option is somewhat terrifying. If a book is damaged in transit....well that's the kind of thing that wakes me up at 2a.m. For stuff like the unsigned Parker Portfolio we may try and add a special USPS option, but it's going to take a little bit of time to code into the site. We want you happy, with affordable shipping and happy with SAFE shipping. Trying to find the balance is taking a little time, but I promise we look at it daily.

Hey Chris, I sent you a long e-mail answer to this. Feel free to share the bits you think people want to hear. Short answer: There's not a TMNT compendium planned, but I think it's a pretty cool idea and it may be something we look at down the line. If enough fans want it we will try and make it happen. Anyone is welcome to e-mail me and let me know what title or edition they want to see most from IDW Limited. Nate@idwpublishing.com

Awesome! Saw those Kubert books leave the warehouse this week but I didn't get a chance to peek inside one.

Wow Bob, you must be a happy camper with that item in your collection, eh? Yes, it's very nice. The real stuff is the fabulous art throughout the whole volume, though. As an aside..... Anyone who wants a normal edition of the Kubert Tarzan Artist's Edition (I bought one from DCBS & then got the sketch edition from IDW so I have an extra), it's yours for $90 +postage. PM me if interested.

Received my TMNT Black Label edition last evening, and the entire package is fantastic and meticulous. From the letter that comes with it and the shiny Wally Wood bookmark and free code for Locke & Key volume 1, to the actual hardcover and slipcase/tray. It's all just hawt sauce. Words don't so it justice. Man, I am very bummed I passed on this now. May need to rethink this...

Easy pass for me, or at the very least, something I won't look to grab all of, even though I'm probably the target audience for stuff like this. This happened in the book market as well with smaller publishers taking big name/projects and releasing limited editions (in several tiers) and pricing them in the couple to several hundred dollar range. I own several of these and they are definitely high quality, interesting, and the effort in stuff like new art and notes is amazing, but it's basically something I now view as worth being 50 bucks and only of value to me if I never bought any other edition ever (which is kind of impossible due to the nature of the selections of these types of books and their price point). In the book market, very few retained their value beyond shit by people like Stephen King and GRRM (and in his case, his releases were BEFORE this became vogue with a now defunct publisher). I'm not a reseller at all but I try to practice some common sense (as it applies to my personal finances) and at this price I'm buying a published page of art. It probably doesn't help that sigs and sketches (outside of personal focuses) have about zero value to me. I'd LOVE this if this is how comics were published from jump, this is what I'm clammoring for, but as a secondary completist item, it smells too much like (and priced as such) manufactured collectible to me. Half this price I'd be a buyer, not knowing the printing process (which could make me very wrong) I have to believe the margins here are unbelievable, too much for me feel good about it. Don't get me wrong, they do look hot and I can see why owners and publishers would have tremendous pride and enthusiasm for them. Now, if the come with the Macross shit from Comico, I will pay double as a note: I've always found IDW to be easy to communicate with.

Got my Tarzan Kubert Remarqued Edition today. Here's the sketch I got: Kind of nice I finally got a peice of Kubert art. I guess I just had to wait 20 years. Joe used to draw on tracing paper over our work in class, but never let us keep them. :/
