Has there been a break down of how many of these first issues are going to be standard 32-page books? I'm wondering how many are going to be $3.99.
I assume most will be standard sized, particularly with the rule that freelancers had to have three issues in the can before August. But we'll know on the...14th? when the solicits hit the interwebs right?

I'm no longer too concerned if a particular title was announced. You always need a good mid-season replacement

From Brian Hibbs latest Tilting @Windmills... http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=32716• It’s very common to hear people say, "Well, comics is clearly dying because [insert title here] sells barely a quarter of what it did 20-30 years ago," but, of course, this ignores the fact that there are four times as many comics being published as there were back then. Duh, do the math.• Ugh, the system is crazy-making, but only the person with their hand on the throttle can change it. Before the Marvel and DC exclusives, distributors held that throttle; afterward, in theory the retailer holds it, but we’re too diverse and spread out (plus, of course, barred by Federal Law to do anything in an organized way) to actually control that throttle. Which leaves it to the publishers.• Let me be perfectly one hundred percent clear about what I think about this plan: it holds the absolute potential to set the world on fire. If marketed and promoted (and advertised!) correctly, if they have strong and clear creative visions, this holds the potential, I think, to increase the audience for print comics by a third or more. There are a lot of lapsed readers out there; there are a lot of might-be-interesteds who could possibly be enticed to come into the fold.
I want to be clearer than that, even: I absolutely 100% without hesitation of any kind think that the potential market for sampling print comics (alone!) is probably at least five times what it’s throughput is today and even modestly decent retention rates on a solid program for this new sampling could significantly increase the overall audience. I’m not talking simply about converting Marvel-primary fans to DC-Primary fans, but generating wholly new readers. It can be done.
Will this plan do it? Are these the right creative visions on the right books and the right time? I have no idea, and it is a very steep bet to find out if it can or not.
The problem is, the onus is on the retailer to pay that bet. These are just a couple of highlights. The whole article is good stuff... somethings I agree with, some not so much. the Tiki

People NOT attached to any books coming out from DC in the relaunch: What makes me laugh about that list is that they're going by August solicits. Solicits that included DC Retroactive titles. Titles that feature work by creators that haven't done anything new for DC in ages. That skews things a bit for me.

Back up, Canadian brother... I jumped the gun and misread a tweet. My bad. Read the previous couple posts for the real poop.
I completely agree... my first reaction is excitement over a new Catwoman book, then disappointment over being a Winick book. But that being said, I haven't read a Winick book in a very long time and with this relaunch I'm going to try and drop my negative expectations regarding some of the writers and just enjoy the ride (or try anyways). What's Pfeiffer worked on since Catwoman?

Aah, that explains it! I was staring at the list and not getting it at all. I mean, is anyone really surprised that Mike Grell didn't get a new ongoing title?

Looking at that list makes me think some of these creators must have things in the pipeline for later. Nicola Scott, unless she's interested in doing other things, is too good (especially at drawing DC characters) to not be on something. I find it hard to believe her talents wouldn't be in the plans to be utilized. If not, that's a real head scratcher.

I believe it's Bryan Q. Miller, but I agree. I do think, though, that this list is somewhat askew. Some of these folks are not eligible anymore (e.g., Nick Spencer is a Marvel exclusive, Brian Wood has stuff lined up on the other side of the Street, by choice, etc...) Some of these folks ABSOLUTELY have stuff going but it's just not coming out in September (I can't list them because I'm not sure if they want to let the cat out of the bag) Some of these folks (e.g., Adam Schlagman) are primarily editors so I would've actually been more surprised if they were included, versus not Some of these folks, particularly the pencilers, have gigs already committed at other publishers, or imprints (for example Roberson is hard at work on i Zombie and his Cindy Fables stuff). My point being, while not seeing Jamal and Mike on a book SUCKS, for sure, the one truth we've always known about this industry is that there are a LOT more people who want to work in the business than there are spots. Wish that weren't the case. I do think, though, that neither Jamal nor Mike should worry b/c they are astoundingly good, professional, and timely guys. They'll get gigs at Marvel or anywhere they want, really, if DC isn't treating them right.

Admittedly there are several people we know are either working over at Marvel or focusing on creator owned/vertigo work. There are also several folks that will probably pop up in books a couple months later. I know Gene Ha is working on covers primarily. BUT there are creators that pulled the short straws.

She was at a shop near me on FCBD and she let slip that DC, were doing something big towards the end of the year, and while she will be off Titans, or whatever she was on, she had been told she will definitely be on something. Also theres a god damn Grifter title!!! Sorry Marvel, I'm going over.
