Comics that weren't necessarily bad but made you feel horrible

I remember seeing A Clockwork Orange for the first time and walking my buddy home afterwards, just feeling really numb and queezy. I love the movie, but it really had an affect on me. Probably the most of any movie I've ever seen.

The movie Kids. Watched it with a buddy of mine in college and right afterwards, without saying a word to each other we went down to the liquor store, bought a six pack each and got very very drunk. It's the kind of movie that'll do that to you.

  There's a lot of stuff like that in there. The kid getting a new backpack was brutal.

Ball Peen Hammer.  I loved it, but man that was a punch in the gut.  Felt like I got kicked in the stomach.

I've had lots of moments like this, some good (if you know what I mean), some bad.  The one comic book that springs to mind immediately is Walking Dead, can't remember the issue number but it's early, when...

...they're in the prison and the mental guy cuts the two little girls' head's off.

Marvel Fanfare #7.  The second story by Bill Mantlo and George Freeman featuring Daredevil searching for a lost seeing-eye dog.

 

I just listened to the episode where David was talking about that... Yeah, you certainly do feel bad by the end of that story, but still, I thought it was one of Bill Mantlo's best ever stories and you can never, ever go wrong with George Freeman drawing anything (and I loved the teaming of him and Joe Barney on the lead story of that issue).

As far as movies go, Todd Solondz's Happiness was one for me where I felt like I needed a shower by the end of it...

kay, I saw this yesterday and had three things in mind. For the comics I felt horrible in Spider-man vs Wolverine when Spider-man and Wolverine are fighting and he is thinking of ways to kill wolverine and blam, all the lights shine on them and they are both disoriented and

charlie(wolvie's girl) comes up behind spider-man and wham, a super powered fist right to the face. Death by super hero

In tv shows I was always surprised witth the shield. Every episode was a a lesson in how low the human mind can go.

As for movies. Ther is a movie called korean movie called Oldboy. It is the most fucked up movie about revenge I have seen to date and left you feeling horrible afterwards.

Loved it. The ending was one of the biggest flawless victory moments I've ever seen. Another Korean film, I Saw The Devil, was fucking brutal. I liked it but that made me horrible afterwards.

The film Se7en left me destroyed when I came out of the cinema the first time I saw it.

by far the worst thing i ever experienced was (walking dead related)

walking dead 70.  the guy in charge of the compound tells a story about a drugged out guy who eats his 4 year old kids eyes.  its actually a real story that happened in miami (i think).  it has stayed with me for about a year and i feel literally physically ill when i even just think about it.  it didn't help that i read the issue when i was at comic con with my buddy and terribly missing my 2 young kids.  on a related note i'm pretty sure i would murder that guy if i ever came across him...

I like The Shield and there were intense moments but I was really caring about the characters. Though I don't think I will ever watch The Wire from what I've heard about it.

Oldboy I was always told what a fantastic movie it was, it was a cool story, and everything, but I felt blah afterwards. I've heard talk of the greatest fight scene ever in a movie I just felt it wasn't bad. Most people can't believe I didn't dig Oldboy but I just plain didn't and didn't even enjoy watching it.

I think my opinion of Oldboy is mainly influenced by the ending. I thought the fight scene was unique but not all that realistic. I felt a little upset after knowing what really went on with the octopus eating scene (those poor octopi). If they didn't end strong I probably wouldn't have liked the movie all that much so I think I understand where you're coming from.
