Finally got a chance to look through all your work here on the thread and it's really amazing and inspiring. Congrats on the Marvel work I'd really like to get my hands on that issue! And if you don't mind me asking what are you coloring with? Everything is so vibrant but also has a nostalgic feel to it, I love it!

thank you TimothyObriant!! hope you get to see the issue and tell me what you though about it! i'm coloring 100% photoshop cs3. i do try to make it look as "real" coloring and paper through the use of brushes and some textures at the end of the process. i'm glad you like them! (hundreds more on my blog) *note: coloring on the pages of the actual Marvel comic was done by Jose Villarubia not me!

Gotcha, I though they looked to good to be colored and then scaned in but they also looked natural enough to question whether it was photoshoped or not. Great work in photoshop!

hello everyone! writing to inform that Marvel has put up a poll to chose which story of the recent ASSISTANT SIZED SPECTACULAR will see continuation on a new chapter. on this book i drew the " SLUM CITY WARRIORS" story written by Brian Patchett that reintroduced D-MAN, Denis Dunphy, as a US soldier in middle east, trying to recover from his frustrated hero career. Brian an me both believe the real D-MAN story would begin right after the last page of this new status and are excited to tell more. please follow THIS LINK to vote for one of the stories.thank you all! for a lot more D-MAN images by me go to MY BLOG and see all the preliminary drawings there.

The link isn't working. I did a quick look through Marvel's website and couldn't find the poll, either.

I'll have to pick up the book this weekend. I haven't been reading a whole lot of Marvel lately so this snuck up on me, but I will correct the error.

thank you all for the kind words! wish i get to draw flash someday! but so far i made it to someone's wallpaper! yes!!!! there's plenty of stuff by me on the web that's why i sort of stop posting on forums... (it was getting a bit redundant...) so here are links to some of that... *this is from LASEDRAW my super hero blog if you click on the pic you go the whole post (see just the inks) this one too more lizard coming there! *here's a short 6 page opening from my other blog LASERTELLER (sequential but non superhero) click to see the rest *and here's todays drawing at my daily sketch blog LASERKETCH (it's been ongoing for almost 2 years) *and of course i'm on facebook, twitter and the auteurs (which i enjoy the most, cause it actually talks about something other than one self, i comment the movie i watch the night before) feel free to ad me, befriend me or comunicate with me through this forum or any of those things

these are from my blog ... (click for larger) connors shooting the serum (... on his exposed stub!!) was something i though was a little over the top, or rather way low under the bottom, for a regular spider-man book but it made it in... i drew it to frame connors deprived side... avoiding the depiction of a "clean" pseudo-science to something more obsessive and desperate and self-indulgent, a bit more like an addict ... later in the story animal cruelty was added to the mix ... making him and his acts so much more questionable. for my understanding of the character a lot of these ideas and his over all feel, was derived from jeff goldblum's portrayal of professor brundle and his obsessive investigations and addictive process of metamorphosis, in david cornenberg's 1986 remake of the fly
studying the many looks of the lizard through the decades, found that the character remained recognizable by his aspect, attitude and attire but, his physiognomy was somewhat "undefined" from artist to artist, from story to story and even panel to panel... i looked more at the early representations of the character chronologically following ditko's, romita's and gil kane's but also had an unavoidable influence from the more angular design and shadowed renditions by todd mcfarlane, which i devoured so viciously in the 90s that have sunken to a subconscious level! (he he) also tried going back to an actual lizard but that just looked somewhere between lifeless, like reptiles look most of the time and ... cute? ... which are associations you dont really want for this classic, b-horror, tormented, scientist-super-villain however it was very useful to draw all the reptiles for some gesturing and the rendering of the skin... also multiple lizards and dinosaurs appear in the 8 pager so...
