thanks evaD! it'd be awesome to draw a flash story, with ANY flash of ANY period. i like them all a lot! as lengthy and heavy as my reading of the gigantic waid run felt i know have a great deal of affecton for the whole flash family, including jessie quick, max mercury and the rest. here's another character i like a lot i'm re-reading the moore run right now. i read it when it came out on its spanish edition in the late 80s... i had no immediate memory of hardly any of it but as i was reading it all came back very strongly, both story and art. such a joy to read stephen bissette & john totleben forever!!!!! i'll post a scan of the inks for this on my blog (in case you're interested)

I'm a big fan of their work as well. I think your image captures the feel of their work on Swamp Thing. I am interested in seeing the inks. Posted yet?

I think there's a little Frank Miller thrown in there as well. If the Swamp Thing were to pop up in Sin City, I think that's what he would look like. Actually, I think Miller would miss the subtleties you're including, but the contrast is very strong like he would do. It's really cool.

you're too kind evaDi'd loooooooooove to be able to "reduce" the line work as much as he does on early sin city books i saw the spirit and judging from the end credits miller still has got a lot to say behind the drawing board... here's an even more high contrast swamp thing, in case you hadnt seen it back when i posted it (a while ago) here are some other "high contrast" or "minimal line art", "ink stain" type of sketches from the blog (click for large and b&w inks) i still gotta study a lot more alex toth ...

Hey that's cool! I'll be there to support ya! ...and I was just thinking about Assistant Editor's Month these past few days in prep for my Marvel Noise eps 62 bit on Marvel 1983.... sorry Newsarama... it occurred in the Fall of 1983, with cover dates of Jan 1984. I remember, I was there (although I might've gotten the month wrong, as it coulda been sept or oct, but I claimed november on the 'cast.).

Oh, man, I'm gettin' antsy waiting for this! I even stopped emailing you my paragraph-by-paragraph reactions from the posted essay versions just so's I could wait and read 'em all over again in the book!

I even stopped emailing you my paragraph-by-paragraph reactions from the posted essay versions just so's I could wait and read 'em all over again in the book! I wondered what happened there with the reaction emails. But that totally makes sense. The book itself is in my editor's hands and I'll be finishing it up this month. The book cover is also being created this month and then I will just be waiting on the foreword (the foreword author's schedule is kinda busy right now, so I have to be patient), but it looks like March is when the book will drop. Instead of hi-jacking laseraw's thread, in the coming weeks I'll reveal the cover artist and foreword author. (I think both of them are a really big deal and I'm thrilled that they are able to lend their talents to my little project.)

Yeah, I thought it might be an arrogant imposition to think you'd want to hear a plethora of my feedback while you were busy expanding and writing and re-tooling your ideas for the book. ...that, and I'm lazy and often redirected. Thanks to laseraw for letting me be excited about supporting both your efforts in the same thread... WOOT!

I will definitely be picking up both one-shots! $3.99 price point be damned!
thank you earth616!! i can only wish it could be cheaper but... ... Instead of hi-jacking laseraw's thread, in the coming weeks I'll reveal the cover artist and foreword author ....
not a problem Thanks to laseraw for letting me be excited about supporting both your efforts in the same thread... WOOT! my pleasure guys!! this thread is pretty slow moving comment wise (my fault, for slow img posting) your giving it some juice!!! thanks! preview images for my D-MAN story real soon!
