Posted up on CBR is a story that DC Entertainment has an ad for Green Lantern comics at the end of the film. We've been wondering for years why Marvel and DC don't promote their publishing divisions along with the movies, so now DC have gone and done just that. I know it's after the credits, but still DC's forward thinking at the moment has me excited! Clicky below... http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=32833

After the credits....blooming stupid place to put it. Well at least the cinema cleaners might see it and be tempted.

I think what everyone means is "After the end credits...interesting place to put it because it's where moviegoers have been trained by Marvel to wait for a little post-credits-clip and where we get one of those coda-style clips for Green Lantern, as well." Seriously, it's a start. I swear, it seems that sometimes comics fans can't wait to bitch and be snarky. "Oh, the comic advertising is in the wrong place." There's advertising for the first time. Quit bitching. "Oh, the movie will suck." Yes, it's getting mediocre to bad reviews, but is tracking well with males 18–30...that's a potential audience for the comics...and here's the advertising we've all been begging for for the last decade. Stop being so damn jaded and accept the fact that, even with a flawed movie, this is a decent effort on the part of Warners' marketing department. (awaiting the kicks...)

Karma from me dude I wish this "first time" had been following the credits of the first Burton-Batman but I'll take it in 2011! Here in 2011 it's needed more anyway.

the intro was for superman shazan which is on netflix instant stream if you want to just check the 30 second logo. the wb dc eye logo turns into a comic and then you walk through a lcs full of dc comics. the last spinner rack has a superman shazam comic that turns into the main logo.
its probably for all the shorts, but the superman shazan on netflix seems to be a collection of shorts.

Steve gets Karma +.
Haters are gonna hate no matter what. Piss on them.
I am going to see the film. Bleep the reviews & make up my own mind come Saturday & decide for myself.
As for the ad for comics (DC or other publishers) anything to promote the medium I am for it.

No kidding....crummy movie aside....it is exactly the sort of advertising that "we" have all been whining for them to do for years.

Well, I certainly think it's cool that they're finally trying this. However, I do think the placement is a little wonky. Even with the Marvel movies, that as Steve mentioned has trained people to stay after the credits, I would say half of the theater audience invariably leaves. At least they have at most of the movies I've seen.
But my thinking is it was free for WB to attach this screen to the end of the movie, instead of paying for ad space with all of the movie chains to run this image in front of the movie with the rest of the commercials (I don't know how much that would cost, but GL already has a pretty big budget so I certainly get them not wanting to spend more money). With that in mind, if it's this or nothing, it makes sense to take this.

Have the detractors of this film seen advance copies film to judge that it's crummy? Or just piling on what some reviewers say?? I know better than to believe what reviewers say about movies. I've loved too many movies that got bad reviews. It doesn't even open until tomorrow!
