Why are they even fighting? Has the fight started?

I don't think we know yet, although I havent read prelude to schism #3 (and i think #4 come out today) as it will be in my next shipment.
Don't think we will get a good idea until Schism starts with Aaron writting it.

Ooops I thought at this point maybe they're starting to get on each other's nerves already. I haven't read Uncanny in a long time, no idea what's happening. Can't they just do a group hug? Why they gotta fight?

I'm just happy that their jiggling up the Utopia status quo. It was neat to see all the mutants in one place and banding together, but (a) the X-men story has never been about uniformity of thought and (b) there were just too darn many characters at the writers disposal so some characters got over used and some never appeared.
I just feel good that Aaron, Remender, Gillen and Cary and the Gischler/Yost team will tell us some quality tales.

I don't necessarily agree with having Wolverine fight Cyclops which will lead into the splitting of the team but I think that's because I don't see Wolverine as a leader. I might feel better about it if it was someone else. But Wolverine is a big name so it makes sense for Marvel to do this. And if this can be their Brand New Day (in the sense that it stimulates new and interesting stories) then good for them.

Marvel seems to be comfortable handing over the reins to Gillen, and I can only conclude they're happy with what he's been doing so far. From my vantage point, I've found his efforts to be really disappointing, probably the least I've enjoyed Uncanny in years -- but your mileage may vary. On the other hand, Aaron is a champ and has proven he can write tons of different genres and concepts, and he's certainly proven capable of writing Wolverine, and has done a nice job with characterization in the times he's used some of the other X-cast in his Wolverine stories.
I would expect that I'm going to adore Wolverine and the X-Men, while Uncanny needs to win me back.

I wish Peter David wrote a comic with Wolverine and Cyclops in therapy, like the classic X-Factor issues.

I wish Peter David was on something major (if he wants to). He always puts out quality stuff and has been doing so consistently for a very long time.

I don't like it because I like Cyclops having Wolverine to confide in and be his general of sorts.

I liked it when Cyke told Wolverine to form his own team and kill whoever he needs to kill to get the job done.

Exactly, he's the guy who he gets to do the dirty jobs. Also, I don't think Magneto or Namor will follow Wolverine. Isn't it about Wolvies team wanting to go back in the world. Why would they fight about that?

The preview art on the Aaron series looked...rough. I've personally never seen Joni Mitchell as the model for Emma Frost, apparently Bacolo is not afraid to tread new ground.

Don't forget DnA on New Mutants!! Their first two issues on the title were pretty awesome! X-Writing team: Aaron, Remender, Gillen, DnA, Peter David, Cary????? I also happen to be one of the growing number of people who thinks that Gillen is currently crafting the best run on Uncanny in recent memory (still only one arc though!) I'm more than ready for Jason Aaron to write a war between the X-Men! If anyone deserves a chance to write a big crazy event it's Jason Aaron! And it seems as though the editorial team is really working with this cabal of creators effectively (even if the X stable of books cause certainly use a few new artists!! Opena being a major exception in that regard!)

I agree about the artist needing to rotate some new blood, but I am more than willing to take that hit for a great story. Give that bastard Bendis a run for his money with that avengers shit.

Honestly....I haven't loved anything DnA have written in over a year. None of it has been "bad", but they're lost their status as "must buy" writers after Thanos Imperative, Annihilators, Heroes for Hire, Soldier Zero & New Mutants. With Gillen, I've generally enjoyed his stuff and I liked how his Uncanny arc started, but I thought it just ended kinda "okay". But....Gillen's arc was the best non-"event" story on Uncanny in years. Fraction did great with his events (Utopia & Second Coming), but his normal arcs were pretty pedestrian (IMHO).

If I was Logan, I would call all my Lupine brethren and go on a "Slim" hunt. Oh wait

Don't forget that Wolverine has those claws. He may want to take advantage of his mutant healing factor as well.
