and I had to post this clip from Get Crazy that my roommate just reminded me of. Everyone knew Malcolm McDowell was awesome but did you know he too? McDowell as Reggie Wanker. Best drum solo ever at the end of the clip

It was Jello Biafra. The irony was that he was full force into his battle with the US Supreme Court over the free use argument over the use of the HR Geiger insert poster to the Dead Kennedys Frankenchrist LP. NSFW Yes, it was much ado about nothing but it cost Jello thousands and us the listeners a lot of good music. Bean

This is Debbie's pre-Blondie folk rock outfit, The Wind in the Willows. http://youtu.be/Owto4Q473gAThe Wind in the Willows - "Djini Judy"

One of Johnny Cash's stepdaughters was Carlene Carter. Carlene used to be married to Nick Lowe, who released the first single on Stiff Records. http://youtu.be/k3jiCi7aFZE"So It Goes" - Nick Lowe (with Rockpile)

If I could, I would give you 1000000 Karma. I love SCTV! What a great clip. Wow, so many directions that I could go in. Here are the Tubes on SCTV performing Sushi Girl off of the fabulous LP The Completion Backwards Principle. I prefer the 80's mock corporate era Tubes over the 70s glam/acid punk era. Its a longish clip but worth it.

Sushi Girl made me think of Kabuki Girl by the Descendents. I was going to post that but while looking for a performance of it I stumbled across this cover of one of my favorite Descendents songs. Yangi covering Clean Sheets

Yangi covering Clean Sheetshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EomAzZuKT8E The Descendents covered Wendy by The Beach Boys. I have discussed numerous times on these boards my love for the post-Pet Sounds Beach Boys LPs up to and including Surfs Up. I think a lot of people are unaware of the incredible music that they produced following Pet Sounds. I also think that many people do not know how talented Dennis Wilson was. For me, he was the heart and sole of the band or better yet the broken heart and tortured soul of the band. He was the only band member that really surfed and lived the lifestyle that they sang about on their earlier LPs. The Beach Boys - Forever (Live) featuring the strained vocals of Dennis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hyp9b72jSEIts funny, I have watched this video twice already prior to writing the post and I'm going to watch it one more time in preview mode. Bean I know the songs not called Forever Live but Forever, performed live but I immediately thought of Alphaville - Forever Young. What a video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1TcDHrkQYgTravis

Alphaville were also known for "Big in Japan" A band named Big in Japan came out of Liverpool's punk scene in the late 70's. http://youtu.be/16dRuDDKl8E"Taxi" - Big in Japan A sort of post-punk supergroup in reverse, band members later went on to form or join Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Teardrop Explodes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Slits, The Lightning Seeds and The KLF.

Frankie goes to Hollwood is one of the only acts to hold both No1 and No2 in the UK charts at the same time. Relax went back up to No2 when the following song was released. Frakie Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTOQUnvI3CA

True punk... Back in Grad school I was the Music Director of our University Radio Station. I got the opportunity to meet a lot of my musical heroes. During an interview with Bill Stepheson (All, The Descendents, Black Flag), I asked him to name the best and worst punk songs of all time. According to Bill: The Best-Police Story by Black Flag The Worst-I Dig Pain by Pain (from T.V.s CHiPs). So here is I dig Pain by Pain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLyMjIccjL4Bean

This reminds of the punk rock episode of Quincy, with the guy throwing the brick off the building (sadly not in this clip.) http://youtu.be/DpYd7bOn52MOne of the extras in the episode is guitarist Pat Smear, post-Germs and pre-Nirvana/Foos. http://youtu.be/SHMUvS4fCls"Forming" - The Germs
