Fantastic issue, and a perfect entry point for new readers. Perfect timing, with the movie a few days away.

I really really enjoyed it.  Made me realize how much I miss Steve actually being Captain America.

In a dissenting opinion, I thought it was a mediocre issue.

It was good seeing Steve back in uniform, but I tried not to let that elation color my opinion of an otherwise very average comic.   Well, average for these 2 creators......  It's better than stuff by lesser talents but I thought it could have been much better.  I've seen stuff WAY better from both Brubaker & McNiven.  This really didn't feel like an "A Game" 1st issue to me.

Meh....  I remember enjoying it when I read it, but sitting here a week later, I don't think I could tell you what it was about beyond the fact that Fury and Dum Dum were in it.

And I remember that it had a major firearms screw-up.  Snipers don't use laser sights in broad daylight, nor do they use rifles with stubby barrels.

Note: I'm considering going on a one-man war against the inaccurate depiction of firearms in comics.  Really annoys me.  I know that most creators are left-of-center and probably don't love guns, but they should still be committed to accuracy.

Enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away. Accessible and post Fear Itself without spoiling major things. McNiven was in form and had some nice panel layouts.

Agreed. I enjoyed it, but it was sort of just playing it way too safe. There was nothing too surprising or over the top. It was solid throughout, but it was never great.

I agree with you in spirit, but you don't know what kind of arms tech they have in Marvel U.  Especially in the Hydra organization.

I thought Mcniven was awesome as fuck.

Ironically, this same exact statement goes for the Captain America movie as well. So there's my spoiler free movie review for you.

Not to hijack (but I'm going to do it slightly), but hate it when creators use that kind of excuse.  I can buy it with a totally fictional world, but something like Cap is set in a world not unlike our own.  Brubaker makes his share of firearms mistakes in Criminal too.  Dude likes to write about guns....so he should learn about guns.

I only bring it up because it's these little moments that pop the bubble and yank us out of the story.  I'm sure it's hard for the writers, because all of us readers have these little pockets of knowledge.  But, while they don't have to get everything spot-on correct, they should strive to not get anything wrong.
