Tie-ins were at a minimum, I remember a Secret Invasion tie-in but the title was fully in the Marvel universe - That was the Hudlin-started volume.

Awesome episode you two, hit it without missing a beat. Speaking to the younger reader on Flashpoint Vs. Fear Itself. My 13 year old had no attachment to the Azz Batman title. Having as the main characters missed him. Even though I explained to him who they were, his limited knowledge of those characters is only in the origin of Batman. Hes definitely loving Fear Itself more and I'm hooked on Flashpoint for the fan boy aspect. Travis

This ep had a real "Inside the DAPtor's Studio" vibe. Chris was at his best gently nudging DAP into the color commentary, and then adding his own stuff to the mix. Loved it. Few things: 1) First Comics was the straight poop. Unbelievable list of legendary titles involved there 2) LOVED the talk of the smaller press/indie guys we want to see get love. One of the coolest things about doing podcasting is the opportunity to see guys early start making it big. It's the functional equivalent being aware of that small band in college who then goes on to stadium tours. 3) While I'm not personally as big a fan of Emma Rios, I can see what Chris was getting at. Lemire (who David mentioned) is one that comes to mind, as are Scott Synder and Chris Roberson on the DC front. 4) DON'T hate on Liefeld Chris. 5) It's the brown/yellow. It's ALWAYS been the brown/yellow.

Vince and I were not squirreled away together. We were also not under the alias of Mr. And Mr. Underhill. We did not avail ourselves of his and his spa-stravaganzas. And he most certainly didn't keep me warm at night.

Just finished this week's episode. Cheers to Chris and David for continuing on and providing us our weekly crack! I am not sure what was different, but sound wise both of you sounded much clearer this week. Kudos to Vince for taking a well deserved vacation.
re: The 'changes digital will bring' discussion. Good talk. I have no doubt that Chris is correct that the widespread adoption of digital day and date distribution will over time lead to changes in popular storytelling, particularly from the Big Two (and let's face it, if DC's gamble pays off Marvel will follow with an equally bold move). As to what those changes will be, I think it is far too early to tell. Obviously comics viewing on tablets will be a popular outlet for digital comics. And with that in mind issues involving sizing, lettering, word counts, etc will be important. But I think that will be only part of the equation. If there is a sizeable enough catalog, comics could find themselves everywhere - on PCs, laptops, but even your big screen TV via XBOX, PS3, Wii, Boxee Box and other home media centers. They could be included on DVD and Blue Rays, Netflix and even Drive Ins! (OK, maybe not drive ins.....). The outcome will be exciting to see over the next few years. An anything that grows the reader base is welcome.
re: Double Page spreads. Though I concede that in many cases they can and have provided an impact punch to a given story, IMO they are used FAR FAR FAR too often in modern comics storytelling. In most cases they now replace a splash page for no other reason than to earn more $$$ for an artist or are the result of lazy storytelling.
Great episode. Look forward to hearing the band back together next week. cheers Greg L

just listened to the episode this weekend, props goes to Chris and David for one of the best episodes I had listened to. Although it took me a while to notice that I was listening to 11 oclock comics rather than Around Comics just the way Chris opened up the episode. . I still miss Jason and VInce though.....
