After 2+ years of ebay stalking, and missing a few recent auctions due to not being online at the right times I finally have my Green Lantern/Green Arrow Slipcase HC.

I held strong and waited for a deal and refused to pay over sticker just cause its OOP...

I had wanted this for a long time because it makes a great capstone to my Green Lantern collection... but now that I have it Im a little sad... I've got to find a new book to hunt down....

wanted to hear some other stories about people finally getting their grail piece... and then having to figure out what to do next... I guess its just that collector/hunter mentality.

I'm not a comic collector! I wanna say that now, but some things I will collect. I'm a massive Spidey fan and love the Stern DeFalco era. Even though I had a beat up copy, I wanted a kick ass ASM 238, the introduction to my favourite comic villain ever.

After lost auctions or copies out of my budget I found one at my LCS for a good price and immediatly grabbed it! What luck!

Now I just want a kick ass ASM 129

awesome! congrats. I love the feeling of finally catching that fish you have been waiting so long for.  Like others have said, its about time to cast that line again  Wink

For me, my most recent hunt was back when the Incal Classic Collection came out.  I didn't preorder and like a lot of people out there were stuck looking for a copy.  I really didn't want to pay well over cover price like others were selling theirs for so I spent several day just scouring google searches and I randomly came across a small lcs in Waltham Mass of all places (I live on the other side of the state) and I called the guy and sure enough he had a mint unopened copy just sitting there on the shelves.  I confirmed that he was selling it for cover price and my hunt was finished.  I couldn't believe it.  I had called more stores than I would like to admit and had orders cancelled when they couldn't be filled, but its such a good feeling when you finally get that book in your hands.

I dont think its recolored, but they did do a good job with the color transfers. The paper quality is not glossy, so the original colors look good and not overly shiny like some Archives do.

I have no intent of shelling out the big $$ for some of the issues in the collection, so this book was the only way I was going to collect them (yes I could have just gotten the TPBs, but come on this is nice SHELF PORN!)

What now?

I say you hunt down another copy of that exact same book.  Lather, rinse and repeat.  Over the years you can corner the market on that tome and live high on the GL hog!!!!!   Muwahahahahaha!

Congrats!  I'm slowly creeping up on one of my grails (compiling a run of X-Men, post-Giant-Sized/Issue #94) so I know the feeling of getting closer to that goal.

I also really admire your patience to stalk something like this.  In today's internet world, you can really just whip out the bank card and buy it....thereby missing the hunt.

I noticed you said it was a nice GL capstone.  Maybe you could fill out your collection with Green Arrow books and start collecting the other side of that coin.

Or move on to original art.

Or move on to statues and busts.

as far as whats next...Ive got a dozen Green Lantern original art pages (mostly 80s stuff from my era, and lots of early Staton), and already one of my grails (a page from my first GL comic #159), and I keep targeting more pages from that issue (new one went up on CAG not long ago... but its not for sale).

As far as statues... I had some, but then I had a kid 2 years ago and no room to display them, so I sold off the ones I had... someday if I have a "Mans cave" I could see getting back into them, cause they are great...

So far I've never really liked Green Arrow outside of his GL/GA stuff (and even then its all about the Lantern!)

Good for you. My Holy Grail would be getting the whole run of Marvel Comics Present Vol 1, and then getting them bound.  Hearts

I spent a couple of years completing my full run of Famous Monsters Of Filmland and when I finally got the last one I needed, my wife said " Now what?"
Well, within a year (back in 2006) I discovered Around Comics and a whole new world opened up and the never ending hunt began.   There will always be something to seek.
