If it was from Audible than it was a pick of the week on the Mac Break Weekly podcast (part of the TWiT family). I guess it's more of a dramatization than a straight reading. The author, Max Brooks, is the son of Mel Brooks ( ). So I guess that the performers are all children of, or somehow connected with, the cast of Your Show of Shows. Just to clarify: World War Z is, structurally, a take-off on the WWII and Vietnam docs you see where the story of the conflict is told through a series of different interviews with people involved. There are question from the author and responses from the interviewee, edited together to give the reader a chronological, multi-perspective linear story of the events. That is why there are actors and other voice talents in it. It's amazing and the audio book is pretty damned good, too. The movie will be stupid unless they do it like a fake PBS documentary. I highly recommend it. It was incredibly well researched and an engrossing read. My friend gave back my copy after reading it and said, "You know, it's a shame that something like this would never win a Nobel prize for literature because of its subject, because it deserves it."

I've checked out the RONIN trade from the library a few times and never really gotten very far into it. What's wrong with me?

Good episode, guys.
-David, reading it yesterday, Nova #17 was awesome. Actually, I am not too familiar with the man popping up at the end, but I can tell it is big. This book is easily becoming a favorite of mine every month.
-Vince, no love for Cap? I won't bust ya' on it, but it still messes with my head.
-Wood, you preformed Podcast Gold, my friend. The bathroom scene was a first for my ears on a podcast.
Also, All-Star Superman sounds pretty awesome. I read the first HC, but now I will have to read Vol. 2

You're right. It needs to be filmed in the style of a Ken Burns documentary.

A few scattered thoughts on this episode:
Vince - when I get paid, I will send you a case of beer so you can announce something other than Yingling during the drink roll call and SHOCK THE WORLD.
Trades of Trinity - I think the backups should be collected in the same trade as the stories, as is. I think you could interject some of the backup pages in between Busiek & Bagley's pages, but I believe it would take away from the experience of reading the "main" story and would pretty much destroy the narratives in the backups.
All-Star Superman - I read a lot of people saying they got really choked up during this issue, so I think I read it too fast the first time. Reading it a second time I really got more into the emotional beats of the story, which made me more satisfied with it overall. The art didn't impress me as much as the earlier issues did, though.
Morrison's JLA - this run (plus Waid's first two story arcs) is what got me back into traditional superheroes after years of Vertigo and Wildstorm and made me a Morrison fan. I was never a big fan of the art, but Morrison's big crazy superheroics really hooked me. I had heard about the electric blue Superman and thought it was ridiculous, but I liked how Morrison just accepted the change and ran with it, using the new powers in his story but not makin a big deal about it taking pages to explain it. It was just "Superman is blue and has energy powers and oh my god we need to fight AN ARMY OF ANGELS!" Fun stuff.
Guardians of the Galaxy - I really love this book. Marvel has followed up on the promise of Annihilation (and to a lesser extent, Annihilation: Conquest) with Nova and GotG, putting out two great space books every month. (At least, when Nova's actually in space. Like the Skrulls, I think the latest incarnation of Nova works better in space than on Earth.)
Good stuff as always, guys!

Thankyew! I was confused by clever's response...I was intrigued to give the book a try, after having a deep discussion with some classmates over a what if? scenario with a zombie outbreak. One of the guys mentioned of the book, and what it dealt with, so now I'm more than willing to try it out.

Yea I agree with that too. There was something slightly off with the art on this issue. I seemed to notice it the most with the Jor-el/Kal-el scene. Can't wait to see what they are going to do with this series next though. Maybe after Final Crisis, Morrison will get a chance to work with Carlos Pacheco on it.

Nova 17 was all kinds of awesome and a shit load of fun!!! Did any one catch all the refrences to Deaths Head 2 in the issue? Doctor/Director Necker? Minion project? The images other current Deaths Head units from planet hulk? And it all works cause Death's Head 2 was not built untill like 2020ish. Or am i on my own on this one

May be interesting if he pops up.

Great episode, and while I loved the comic talk, I was too busy geeking out to the closing music!
(Vince, any chance you can hook me up with that version of Comfortably Numb?)

Or am i on my own on this one I just got my weekly pile today and have burning through them. Nova was pretty great as usual. Lots of inside jokes and easter eggs apparently (i.e. project director Gruenwald) I loved how won of the skrulls that attacked Darkhawk was disguised as Dick Cheney. Just lots of fun. Captain America still remains one of the best books out there, but have any of you guys checked out the new Solomon Kane series? I've always loved the character from the original Howard stories, but they have never quite done him justice in comic form until now. Great art and story. Dark Horse does it again.

He could do more than dangle it. Every part of him seems prehensile. (Has anyone ever wondered what was up with that? Why do stretchy people also have muscle control in parts of themselves where no muscles existed before?)
Anyway, I was thinking he could fatten it too. THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT! Or put little knobs on it. Turn it French. Or rib it "for her pleasure". That, ladies and gentlemen, is why such a hottie like Sue stays with the detached, emotionally-distant, "Tony-Stark-Was-Right" Reed. The man IS an inventive genius after all.
But y'all knew that all along.
Hell, now I'm falling for Reed.
