I've been brweing my own since last Xmas (gift from the wifey). Just bottled a Belgian Tripel couple weeks ago (that'll be ready in couple more weeks), but my own concocted recipe for an Orange Blonde Ale has been ready for weeks now and have slowly been milkin those. 5 gallons of that goes a long way when the wifey cant drink beer! I should do some labels for this stuff to post pics here. Hmmm...

I've never had the Voodoo but their Hazelnut and Dead Guy are phenomenal bears.  Especially the Hazelnut on tap.

Rogue is a great brewery.  Bacon and Maple in your beer is only good in theory.   Bangs Head

I was going to ask how it was. I love the other Rogue stuff but this one I was waiting on because I am not the biggest fan of maple. The bacon had me scratching my head. How bad was it?

It's hard to reproduce the flavor of maple syrup, it can be both cloyingly sweet and light all at the same time.  In this beer...well, it tasted artificial, no better way to say it.  You could taste the bacon and that was great, because beer and smokey flavors are a match made in heaven.  Smoked porters are some of my favorites (not for the faint of heart) but the malts get exemplified when you put a little heat under them.  My biggest issue was the lack of body.  You really think by looking at it, that it's going to stick to your throat and the back end malts are gonna beat you up down the line, but it doesn't, just doesn't happen, the flavor just hits you hard and disappears.

I give Rogue credit for the shot.  They lose no street cred for this.

I am also a big fan of smoked porters. I tend towards darker and fuller bodied beers< also a fan of good imperials. Thankfully my wife is as well so she never complains when I bring them home (which is not THAT often but still).

Any dark beer fans.. if you can get your hands on some while it's still available, I highly recommend Ithaca Beer's Gorges Smoked Porter...

I'm not drinking it right now, but Michter's Straight Rye has become my new favorite. Between that and Sazerac, I think I am beginning to enjoy a good rye whiskey more than a bourbon.

Picked up the Sams winter collection which is a staple in my house around this time of year, interested to try it since they have changed up a couple of the bottlings.

Right now though I am enjoying a Dogfish Head India Brown Ale which I have never had before.  This brewery has quickly become a favorite of mine after not really exploring many of their offerings outside of their typical IPAs.  Well that has changed this past year and the India Brown is another fantastic beer from them.  Perfect on a cold winter night.
