Also, I really enjoyed DD #1. However, I've never been the biggest DD fan in the world, so the changes to his character, aren't that big a deal to me. I thought the short story at the end of the book, probably should have come first though. The kissing of the bride was also a little to whimsical. Overall though, I really enjoyed it.

Great episode guys.  One of my favs in recent memory.  A few things.

First, you guys really need to check out Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  Everyone I know, including myself, not only likes this movie, but loves it.  I'm sure you guys will as well.

Second, I hate to bring up the religion thing, but Chris pushed really hard the idea that the historicity of Jesus is not in doubt when that's not exactly the case.  There are a number plausible origins for the Jesus character that lead no credence to the idea of an actual man fulfilling the role, from Gnostic mysteries historicized to an amalgamation of influential individuals during the Roman times.

And last, Wood, I think you're right about Daredevil, but I honestly don't mind because the artwork is so gorgeous and innovative.  But yeah, I really don't remember what the issue was about except for the scenes you discussed.

For the record, I enjoyed DD #1 and found it to be very memorable... but I don't read the volume of books that most of you godless heathens do.  Wink

Quick question though... as someone who hasn't read a lot of Marvel in the last few years, are backup stories fairly common? It seemed a bit jarring to have the main story end so soon. Editorially speaking, was this just a way to accommodate two headlining and aesthetically simpatico artists on the book?

I viewed #1 as a new twist and evolution of the character. In the Lee/Colan eras as far as I'm aware he wasn't trying to be very happy, convince people he was happy, and overdoing it. Stuff is bubbling and sometimes a good smile at the end of more depressing Daredevil is all you need.

Backups have been showing up all over the place. When the books more than $2.99 on something like this/have to be this price/or are price transitioning backups are common.

Wood, you are my dude. Of all the hosts, your opinion is the one I value most as our tastes line up quite a bit.

But you TOTALLY lose me with your Rob love. I appreciate your (and Vince's) enthusiasm for the dude, but I just do. not. see. it. However, I like that EOC is a Rob Liefeld hate-free zone. It's one thing to not care for the dude's work, which I don't, but people making jokes about his style is about as played out as Kwame with them fucking polka-dots.

Dude's making jokes about that chesty Cap image like thats original? Fuck outta here.

I was a smidge HAMMERED last night.

 Embarrassed

Do you like Daredevil #1 better now in the cold, harsh light of a sober day?  Wink  As with Chris, it's hard to say you SHOULD be drunk just for my entertainment, but you DID sing and rap more than I've heard in a while!  Hearts  But if you emphasize how much you don't like Doctor Who while praising something else that hard again, I'll have to infer a brooding secret lust for the Time Lord smouldering away in your breast. No No

David was havin a GYOOD GYOTDAMN TAHME last night too!! Chimin' in like a Wall Street bell all up and down this biznatch!! (I say "last night" like THAT'S when you were recording, not just when I was listening :smackmyhead: )

And I think Vince did the best job of reviewing a book and not spoiling it that I've heard to date! You can has a happy for the day!! (Witcho sexy Muttley laugh!)

I thought I said pretty much what the other poster said during the show. You would be hard pressed to discount Christ "the man" from existing, whether you believe in the Son of God part or not.

I was just about to post that you totally did. Don't know why that part was missed, except that people tend to major on the things that rile them more than they do the good stuff. (people = me, admittedly).

Quoth Chris, "whatever."

I wish you were in my theater to point that out to me! Smiley

Skinny Cap/Chris Evans CGI was really well done. And unless I'm forgetting something, the Cap movie probably has my fave ending out of any comic book movie.

Without quoting anyone from previous pages so as to not bring up anything, I'll just say that I love you all (especially Vince B) and Hug for everyone.

In regards to Wood's dislike for Daredevil, I understand what you're getting at; it does feel like he's almost a new character.  But I think thats part of the plan honestly; Matt seems, to me, to be faking or forcing this happy go lucky attitude.  I full the expect the old days to come back to some extent.  He's in the light, but I'm sure it'll get a least a bit darker.

In regards to Wood wanting Ryan Gosling to keep his shirt on in movies, last night I heard a husband comment that he & his wife saw Captain America and her complaint was that Steve Rogers didn't keep his shirt off long enough.

 Roll On Floor Laughing

Man, I can just imagine you husbands reading this going to the gym and getting your cut on and having your wives falling in love with you big lugs all over again in new and lustful ways.  I can picture them sneaking up behind you when you're in your several bathrooms shaving, shirtless, and she steathily plants a kiss on your shoulder blades. You know she likes what she sees, YOU like what you see, and you both share a husky chuckle.

"I did it all for you babe," you whisper.

 Drool

aaaaaaaaand SCENE.

 Thumbs Up

Yeah. In YOUR scene, you put your hand on her face and mush her backwards. Roll Eyes

I went to see Crazy Stupid Love, and Gosling is one sexy motherfucker. I'm not to proud to admit I've got a bit of a man-crush on the dude. Doesn't hurt that he's got the talent to back up the steamy.

Sorry Vince I screwed up; wrote my response before the end quote tag. Fixed it, makes more sense now. Not complete sense but more.  Cheesy
