All DC Comics, all the time! This week, after Vince does a little bit of catch-up on the first salvo from the DC New 52 (Detective Comics, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Action, Batgirl, Hawk & Dove, JLI, Stormwatch, and OMAC), we jump head-first into the second week, touching upon Batman and Robin, Batwoman, Deathstroke, Demon Knights, Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E., Green Lantern, Legion Lost, Red Lanterns, Suicide Squad, Superboy, and Resurrection Man. Hey, it's a revolutionary month for the comics industry. Get used to it (for at least another two weeks).Direct LinkIntro: Pink Freud with Monster of JazzOutro: Ugly by Love and Rockets

Oh snap, the Big V is back! Kinda weird how Jason doesn't sound like Jason. It's like you have a guest creator on the show And Vince sounds like he's 10 years younger! Did you spend last week in the Lazarus Pit? So I'm 30 mins in and Jason hasn't said any of his catch phrases yet. I don't think that's Jason

Seriously comparing Jack to Leifeld is the most eff'd comparison in history. Kirby had some different things he did with anatomy. It was all consistant though. like a Darwyn Cooke. Leifeld is woefully inconsistent. I would give him credit for the anatomy stuff if it looked like he knew what he was doing from panel to panel.
If you like the guy off screen thats great. Stan Lee was a great cheerleader for the industry, but that doesn't mean he should get compared to J.R.R. Tolkien.

Huzzah! New ep. ... If I was a teenager I'd love Detective. Easy to follow. Goofy dialogue. Fun art. It's not for little kiddies, but Art and Franco and Brave and The Bold have that covered. Everyone's catered for!

Glad Vince is back.
Kinda was hoping for some Marvel talk, DD, X-Force, Spidey and Punisher all rocked.
Fear Itself 6 was pretty kick ass too.

Remember when Sting really wasn't Sting? Remember when Darren was replaced by Darren? I didn't believe it was really you until you said "whacktacular" The highlight of the episode was King DAP's "I'm not a big fan of the Hitler" P.S. I think I figured it out with Vince, the DC stuff is making him feel young again. I love how he doesn't wanna go to sleep and he wants to keep things going! Good to know you're having a lot of fun buddy

Gotta disagree with the Kirby/Liefeld comparison. Liberal anatomy aside (snicker) Kirby could draw real life. Cars, flowers, urban neighborhoods, ethnicities, historically accurate weaponry etc etc. I've not seen Leifeld conquer any of those with any competency.
I AM NOT A LIEFELD HATER. But I think his enthusiasm and your enthusiasm doesn't elevate his artwork to a level that he hasn't earned. He's a good cat, & he still has it. Saying they are in the same ballpark (Vince loves sports analogies) is a bit generous don't you think?

I don't think we were talking about what they draw, the comparison is how they draw.
There's energy on the page and in those panels.
Kirby can draw the stoops in Brooklyn like a master. Or like an Eisner. Can Rob draw a street scene the same way? No.
But seeing Kirby's Captain America lunge into action has the same excitement that Liefeld's X-Force does.

Look, Vince was taking the Liefeld/Kirby thing to an extreme point, obviously. Let's remember that there is no bigger Kirby fan on this planet than Vince, so I certainly don't think he was belittling Kirby in the comparison as much as trying to fend off the "Liefeld Haterade."
