With the New DC 52 I've noticed a jump in AC downloads & plenty of new forum members & twitter followers.

I REALLY hope that these are new comic readers that are testing the waters of the online comics communities. In that spirit, I want anyone and everyone to know that no question about comics is too basic. Feel free to ask anything and the larger 11 O'Clock community will be here to help.

Promise!

No, absolutely not.  Kirby worked on the first bunch of issues but handed the series off to other artists. Not indicative of why we say "WOW!" to Kirby.  Try the Thor Masterworks beginning with volume 4, or get the Kamandi Omnibus from DC.

You might consider a sampling of Marvel Masterwork HC's instead of available Omnibus's....better in-print selection of classic tales told in the Mighty Marvel Manner!

What he said.

Is that the book that was Kickstarted recently?

Yeah I was lucky enough to come across a copy in my LCS. I was just wondering what was up with the second book is it gonna be kickstarted too?

Sub question, if FF doesn't really do "it" for me, is the Byrne art worth it alone?

Pick up a Byrne issue or two to see how it fits on you.
You might be able to find some in some bargain bins.

If it seems OK, you might want to try the Fantastic Four Visionaries
Byrne stuff in trade paperback.  Those you might be able to find them fairly inexpensively.
I might even let some of my Visionaries Byrne go for cheap if you really want it.

I have and have read, Jim Starlin, Dreadstar, The Beginning, HC (Dynamite, 2010).
What to buy next?
Am I right to assume the contents of the Dreadstar Omnibus pick up the tale.

I guess what to buy next would be the Definitive Hardcover Collection, which is probably what I should have bought in the first place as the version I bought does not appear to have part 2 available in HC.

The Beginning reprinted various stories that appeared before the monthly Dreadstar comic started.  The first 12 issues of the monthly comic have been reprinted a few times over the last few years -- in the one volume hardcover Definitive Collection, the two volume paperback Definitive Collection (both of which are out of print), or the Omnibus TPB, which just came out.  But as far as I know, the contents are identical across all three versions.

One word of warning -- make sure you're getting something published by Dynamite.  A few years before those reprints, Slave Labor reprinted the same issues in black and white.  The reproduction quality was terrible; it was shot directly from the comics rather than line art, so it was just a grey muddy mess.

Thanks for that key bit of info I was overlooking, now I am unafraid.

Hey I'm some what new to comics. Been reading for about two years, never read as a kid but can't stop reading. Starting to get in to original art and I want to learn more about the difference between the pencils, inks etc. like when you talk about how tight the pencils are or loose. Is there a good book that will help with this. Thanks

A couple weeks ago the EOC guys were talking about the Showcase Presents series of DC collections. I've read some older Marvel stuff, but never any older DC stuff. I'd love to know where a good place to start would be to see if I like the format. I'm a big fan of Justice League (Morrison's JLA is what originally got me really excited about DC) - should I start with the first Justice League collection, or is there a better one to start with? I obviously know the characters, so continuity's not a big deal. Then again, I don't know much about old DC, so any advice would be great.

The upload feature does not work.  Instructions can be found in the Welcome Thread.

Hey guys.

I been out of it for a bit, and am catching up on episodes. I have just about caught up, like 2 more to go (think I slacked off around Christmas and have crammed all since then into the last few weeks!)

My question is, can someone please explain to me how the live tweet thing works. Do you have to post the questions as your recording? If so when do you record etc etc.

Just keep an eye out for the #eoclivetweet tag.  Recording takes place almost always at 9:00pm east coast time.
