So Krul is off Green Arrow and Rozum off Static Shock looks like DC are taking things seriously. You do one bad issue and you get cut.

Remember it's not one issue by the time we see it, but yes, the underlying point is still correct. If you're not getting it done (however DC editorial is defining "getting it done") you are OUT.

Talk about the damage already being done.  That first issue was a DOG.  I don't care who they put on the title to replace him, I'm just not interested anymore.

Actually it looks like he left because he's doing another project at DC.

It's kind of odd how much his statement mirrors what Rozum said about leaving Static.

If it turns out Giffen is in it for the long haul on this title than I'll definitely check it out.

I kind of applaud this because at least they are willing to make changes if they feel its not working but also you have to question the decision making/makers when hiring some of these writers if its clearly not working early then this has to be looked at as a bad choice for that book in the first place.

Wonder if its not working on Green Lantern if the writer will get taken off that book  Whistle

And if you believe that I've got an original Kirby I'm willing to sell you for a pack of Garbage Pail Kids.

If he wants to say he chose to leave the title or was fired from the title really doesn't matter to me as long as the end result is Keith Giffen writing Green Arrow.

On the plus side though, Keith Giffen is taking it over...

I've got the first issue, but haven't read it yet (hope to rectify that in the next day or so), though to be honest, the real draw for me was the re-teaming of Dan Jurgens and George Perez on the art (for those that don't know, they had a run on Teen titans together that was absolutely beautiful), with Giffen now added to the mix, I'm actually even more excited about the book.

I'm liking this ruthless approach. It sould be a honour to work on a big DC book like this and if you can't cut the mustard there is dozens of other people that can do a better job.

I am waiting for the common "save face" pr blurb of... "I am leaving because I want to spend more time with my family".

In all seriousness, Didio has stated from the beginning that is is in it to win it and he is as serious as a heart attack.  The man truly wants this to work out and it doesn't sound like he is gonna let anything get in DC's way.

I don't know if Green Arrow is a "big" DC book, now or ever.

Also, I hope folks understand that there are a lot more people involved than the writer, penciler, inker & colorist. At DC and Marvel there is a whole chain of possible pitfalls.

I know we all did the "why doesn't this guy have a book?" thing when the New 52 was announced, but as they're filling holes and replacing cancelled titles, I hope someone is keeping the names Mike Norton and B. Clay Moore in mind.

I gotta question the wisdom of putting him on this book to begin with.  I've never read anything of his that I thought was very good and seeing his distinctive name popping up multiple times in the new 52 back when the first solicits first came out...well....that made me think that it looked like the exact same creators who I didn't love that much.

Kudos for not adding insult to injury though.  I always think that the creator/editor relationship has to be tough.  If you're the editor who first campaigned for JT Krul or Matt Fraction to get big time work, it takes a pretty secure person to say Green Arrow or Fear Itself blows because it's kinda a reflection on their original judgement.

I wonder if some of these books were launched almost as placeholders while the "real" creators tied up loose ends, just for the sake of being able to launch a big fat steady wave of #1's all month long. I mean, you call your shit "THE NEW 52," you can't exactly hold off on a few titles until something better hits your desk. Those suckers gotta ship.

Wooo-hooo! If nothing else, Green Arrow could use some of Keith Giffen's sense of humor to counterpoint his usual "serious as  heart attack" politics. This is going to be interesting.

Can't say this is more of a surprise than finding out Krull was writing a book for the new DCU. I kept trying his Titans book and it was really, really bad. All that being said, Green Arrow is kinda like Hawkman and I'm not sure what the solution is for making the book a monthly buy. I think the best bet would be to follow the Hellboy philosophy and don't do a regular series. Get a kick-ass creative team to do a 4-6 issue run and then take a break and let it settle in. There can't be any demand to see a monthly Green Arrow series other there. I liked the first 30 issues or so of the Mike Grell run, but that was all Ollie on his own not mixed in with the big powers world.

I would love Grell to take over the title again - but they've rebooted the character back to his younger days. I actually enjoyed Diggle's Year One story - more of that would be nice. I have a lot of faith in Giffen, however.

YEAAA!

As a Green Arrow fan I've been just miserable with Krull on the book. When they relaunched the announcement of him continuing on the book was a huge disappointment. I was going to give it up again but now Ill stick with it for a while longer.

Green Arrow is always a character I want to like and every time I try a book here or there I am left feeling meh afterwards.

I felt like the direction of the new book in the new DC was good but the diaglogue to me was atrocious.

I am going to check out a couple more issues to see if the new writer gets anything going after Krul is off the book but at this point my expectations are low.

And Krul to me is looking more like a one hit wonder with the Blackest Night Titans mini than anything else.  After that I have not really enjoyed much else I have read from him.

I really want to like GA but honestly the only issues I have ever enjoyed were from the Mike Grell run. I was really hoping they would go back to that.
