Saw a Midnight screening this morning. It was the BEST superhero movie I have ever seen. This movie sets up and pays off so many moment that it's very easy to overlook any flaws.

I am working on an hour of sleep right now but I think the best way to sum it up is what I said to my wife right after the end.

"For the first time in my life, I have just seen a movie that moves me the way a great comic does."

Also:

"The trick is, I'm always angry."      Boogie

Also 2: Come Monday this is what Joss Whedon is gonna look like (deservedly) to everyone in Hollywood.

Holy #%?!

This movie..... It was almost painfully awesome. Joss Whedon brought the marvel universe to the movie theater. Completely different ton from Nolan's Batman films (and rightly so!) but, for my money, The Avengers is now up there with The Dark Knight not just on my favorite comic book movie list, but on my all-time favorite movies list.

It's wild to walk out of a movie thinking: "well, THAT was a movie I'm going to watch a few dozen more times over the course of my life!"

Yes, there are 2, a mid credit scene and an end credit scene.  The end scene mad me rolling.

And it was full of so much awesome.  The characters were captured perfectly.  The dialog was great.  There was a good mix of action and set-up.  And the one liners or random nods were brilliant.  And in my opinion, the best character in the movie was Hulk.

there were exactly 3 people that had any reaction to the mid credits scene in my theater, my buddy and me, and the one random guy sitting next to me.  we were GIDDY.  we lost it.  we could not stop laughing in disbelief of how awesome it was.

the more i reflect on it the more i get out of it, I loved that every character didn't just get screen time , they got GOOD AND IMPORTANT screen time, and there were some pure fanboy moments, like when
Hulk bashed Loki
that got spontaneous applause including my own

he's one of my best buds, guitar player in my band.  he ended up being in a lot of shots, it's pretty awesome.

Just like the mid credits scene, the less you know about the scene at the end of the credits the better.
They are both ubsurdly awesome (and in completely different ways. The mid credits is the big "too be continued!" the final scene is... not what you'd expect, but kinda brilliant for those who read the comic)

the avengers sitting around a table at the shawarma place that tony mentions.  they all look haggard and are just sitting there spacing out and chewing, it was pretty hilarious.

13 hours and change till I get to see it! Haven't been this excited since seeing the original TMNT in 89 (90?)

Nice pull.

I'm trying to not get overhyped.  No time to see this flick for a few weeks.  Work is whoring me.

About that scene.

The fact this scene went on for like 2 minutes with no one saying a word was pure genius. When Banner started to chuckle a bit to himself I damn near lost it.

Man, what a great movie.  Everybody was awesome.  Each character got a great moment, every scene was great.  This was the best Hulk I've ever seen on film.

So good.
