1- coulson might not be dead. (LMD's are a thing in the movie universe, fury says coulson's "down" not "dead". they might have show coulson on the bridge post "dying".)
With the exchange between Fury and Hill about Colson's Captain America cards being in his locker, NOT in his pocket, I feel safe saying that Colson didn't die. I believe Fury even says something to the effect that the group needed something to rally around.

"We might not be able to defend the earth, but we'll be damn sure we avenge it."
That line got applause at both of my viewings. Gotta love that RDJ.

The 'ragdolling' got the biggest gasp then applause at my cinema Smiley

Hulk is the standout character of the movie and I love him to bits but RDJ is still the MVP. I find it fascinating how Tony Stark and RDJ personalities have merged into one. When he's doing interviews and things, it's like Tony Stark is being interviewed. They're the same guy now Tongue

Finally saw The Avengers. I can't argue as to merits of it as far as "film" is concerned but when it comes to movies, this was damn fun!

So looking at the numbers, itnwould appear Mr. Whedon has made his bones in the movie business.

Seems like Big Daddy V loved it too so that's 2 EOC hosts that loved it. I'm curious to hear what Chris and David thought.

I'm gonna throw my hat into the Agent Coulsan talk...

Agent Coulsan was NEVER a real human but rather a LMD all along.  He will be "rebooted" into a new LMD known as the Vision.

Booya!

Interesting but I don't think they'll go that way for one reason...

They've just introduced him in the comics.  If they want to make the comics world similar to the movies, which they clearly are, we've already got a Vision.  I do agree that he's not (permanently) dead though.  Again, why bring him into the comics if they're just going to kill him off?

Unless their marketing idea is 'You like Agent Coulsen?  Well he may be dead in the movies but you can read more of his adventures in the funny books.'  If it is... good luck with that.

I have a question about residuals, but it's totally a spoiler. So beware.

I was so satisfied with Thanos' grin. It was perfect! I never really geek out for these comic book films, but I totally had a fanboy moment when I saw the Mad Titan. I hope Jim Starlin got some money for that. Does anyone know if he did?

When did he create that character?  I'm guessing no.  But maybe he gets some sort of story credit?

Would Millar get money for Avengers?

Nope.  He's said so.  What they did was work for hire.  Both he and Bryan Hitch are just happy that some of the things they came up with are being used in the movies.

A lot of the look, feel, and some plot points came from the Ultimates, but I felt most of the characters (except Nick Fury) seemed closer their 616 counterparts. I'm still curious about
Jim Starlin
though. I feel the character's creator should get some kind of compensation. Granted it was just a teaser, but still.

I agree.  They've taken bits from both the 616 and Ultimate line.

Regarding the spoilery bit...
I'm sure he will be compensated but maybe not properly until Thanos is a major part of the story in 2.  Assuming he will be.

Both Millar and Starlin received credits in the movie....does that equal some form of compensation?  Starlin was always very careful and clever in his contract negotiations with Marvel (even majorly contributed to how contracts pay out royalties at Marvel, etc.).

....and, as for the EOC'ers, Chris tweeted that he loved it, too. Yes

I LOOOOOVED this movie. It is  now in that upper tier of comic films with Dark Knight, Hellboy, and X-Men
First Class.

Here is my issue: Can people stop posting on facebook, tumblr, twitter that we need another Hulk movie now.
Hulk can't carry his own movie. I think Hulk barely carries his own comic. Hulk is used best in this role. He is
the big enforcing avengers "weapon of mass destruction".

Have him show up in the other characters movies if you want, but please not another Hulk movie.
I could dig a live action Planet Hulk, but thats not gonna work within the universe as it is created.

How about, 'we need Hulk in another movie' versus 'we need another Hulk movie'?

I think Joss Whedon said as much.

The thing with Avengers was he spent a lot of time trying not be "the other guy" and he only appreared at opportune moments.

The problem with the stand along movies is that the audience just wants constant Hulk and i'm not sure that can sustain an entire movie.

i find it fun how people keep saying this movie got it right with a "fun hulk" but miss that you also got suicidal Bruce Banner.

I love incredible hulk. i actually like it more then iron man but i cannot see another hulk movie that good again.

Post suicidal.  He was describing what he attempted to do in the past, but then instead directed his energies towards helping other people, until he was dragged back into the world of SHEILD.  Big Difference with a capital D, and promotes hope in all those who feel or have felt hopeless.

But it's not suicidal Banner, it's post suicidal Banner.  He has tried to kill himself sometime before the start of the movie but had since come to terms with his condition and was trying to help where he could.  Banner definitely has a fun side to him as well and it comes out most when he interacts with Tony Stark.  He's not a suicidal character in this movie.

I really like the Incredible Hulk film too.  Just imagine it had Mark Ruffalo instead of Norton.  I like Norton, I just think Ruffalo's a better Banner.

EDIT:  You beat me to it Raker!   Cheesy

i never said banner did not have a fun side. I am saying "fun hulk" was equally balanced out.

i do think that part that going hulk is "fun" or is release for banner is underplayed in either of the hulk movies.

I just think Ruffalo's a better Banner.

he great for it because the hulk really looked like him and he really pulled off the feel for banner.
